JOB DESCRIPTION

As a correctional officer stationed in the prison's surveillance center (BC), you will work with monitoring the prison's perimeter security and outer perimeter protection. You will handle and relay various types of alarms in the operation, such as fire alarms and assault alarms. The BC is also responsible for ensuring that transport within the prison occurs in a safe and secure manner. The work can be stressful at times with a high workload. Since the job involves the use of technical equipment, you will undergo a special internal training in addition to the local introduction. A requirement to start your position in the BC is that you complete this training with a passing result.

Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for planning and executing operations. You will contribute to maintaining safety in the workplace and ensuring that safety regulations are followed. If necessary, you should also be prepared to cover other units within the prison and work as a correctional officer in another department. To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share Kriminalvården's fundamental values regarding a humane view of humanity. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally.

Your employment begins with local introduction and special training in the technical environment. You will also undergo the national correctional training, which will be scheduled based on availability. The training combines theory and practice, and you will receive full salary during this time.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good collaboration skills and be clear in your communication. You should be able to act physically when required.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A strong interest in technology and very good computer skills
• Normal color vision
• Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment
• Completed secondary education or other education in combination with work experience that KV deems relevant
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing

It is a merit if you have:

• Work experience from correctional services or other security and surveillance work
• Experience working as an operator at alarm centers, surveillance centers, or safety centers
• Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management
• Relevant language skills
• Driver's license B
