JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for an archivist with a university degree in archival science and knowledge of the regulations for municipal archival operations. The role involves working with both physical and digital archives, where you will become a key person in creating order, structure, and sustainability in information management.

You should be interested in having a broad work field and be willing to take responsibility for archival care and to develop the archival operations in the municipality. You will be the organization’s advisor on archival issues and provide support to archive managers and archive reporters within the municipality's administrations. Through your expertise and engagement, you want to increase knowledge of archival issues within the organization and also drive development forward.

Your tasks as a municipal archivist will include:

  • leading and developing the municipality's processes regarding archive and information management
  • driving and coordinating the municipality's work with deliveries to e-archives
  • working with information valuation and conducting preservation and disposal investigations
  • supervising the administrations' archival care
  • responding to inquiries from operations, citizens, students, researchers, and other authorities
  • specifying requirements and receiving deliveries, organizing, cataloging, and disposing of public documents
  • providing advice and support to the organization on archival issues, planning and conducting training and information initiatives
  • participating with archival expertise in assignments and projects, for example, in preparation for the purchase of new operational systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University education with at least 60 credits/40 points in archival and information science or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Professional experience as an archivist within public operations
  • Good knowledge of the regulations for municipal archival operations
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written

You are responsible and meticulous and have a holistic perspective on the municipality's information management. Since you will be the organization's specialist in archival issues, it is important that you can work independently and take your own initiatives and that you are service-oriented. In the role of archivist, you need to have good communication skills, see the importance of and benefits of collaboration, and be skilled at building trustworthy relationships.
