Our Operations
The Department of Ear, Nose, and Throat Diseases (ENT) diagnoses and treats diseases and conditions affecting the ears, nose, sinuses, oral cavity, upper airways, as well as hearing and balance. Primarily, we are a surgical department with both planned and emergency services. The surgeries can be simple but also more extensive tumor surgeries in the head and neck area. We also have an emergency service in the form of an on-call clinic within ENT that, during evenings, nights, and weekends, is located in the ward and staffed by personnel from the department. At the on-call clinic, patients are received with, among other things, infections in the ear, nose, and throat area, nosebleeds, dizziness, and severe airway obstructions.
The department has 12 patient beds with only single rooms, and patients are divided into care teams staffed by nursing assistants and registered nurses. We care for both children and adults, and the length of stay varies from less than one day to several weeks.
Your Mission
The nursing needs of our patients are very varied, and the work is based on a strong focus on highly specialized nursing. As a staff member in the department, you are expected to contribute your professional competence and your commitment to creating safety, continuity, and a high level of trust in patient interactions.
The basic nursing includes pre- and post-operative care. In the highly specialized nursing, assessment and management of airway issues, bleeding from the nose and throat, as well as care and management of tracheostomized patients are included. The department is particularly focused on diseases of the upper airways, with a pronounced emphasis on tracheostomy care. For those who lack prior experience in the field, we offer a structured and operationally adapted training in tracheostomy care as part of the introduction.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a trained nurse, preferably with a few years of experience. If you have experience working with ear, nose, and throat, it is an advantage. As a person, you are stable, solution-oriented, secure, and empathetic. You are responsible, always have the patient in focus, and appreciate teamwork.
We Offer
The position is a permanent employment starting by agreement. We are looking for individuals who can work all hours of the day, so please indicate in your application what you wish to work, day/evening, only night, or rotation.
With us, you will receive:
- A stimulating job in a highly specialized care environment
- Opportunities for continuous professional development and training
- A solid and individually tailored introduction
- A multiprofessional team with the patient at the center
With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
You will receive an individualized onboarding together with a mentor, and the introduction will be tailored to your prior knowledge so that you feel secure in your role with us.
