Job Advertisement: Cook at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

The operational area (VO) Lindåsa will become a prison just outside Tollarp with approximately 112 places for men in security class 3. The work will be led by a prison chief together with 3 correctional inspectors. The prison will conduct extensive enforcement and investigation work, while also providing valuable activities such as gardening, kitchen, learning center, program activities, and packaging workshop. We will also place a strong focus on security work in the form of, for example, searches and relationship-building work/dynamic security work.

In this advertisement, we are looking for 1 cook! A 6-month probationary employment may be applied.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a cook, you will primarily prepare meals for clients but also for staff. Your colleagues will include another cook and a kitchen manager, and you will also work alongside inmates who perform simpler tasks. The job responsibilities are all common in a large kitchen; planning and preparation, purchasing, cooking lunch and dinner, packing breakfast and evening meals that clients eat in their respective departments. The job also includes cleaning the kitchen premises, dishwashing, and self-control. Our goal is to prepare food from scratch. Preparation of diet food and other special diets is also included. The work is conducted in collaboration with staff in other functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has self-awareness. You remain calm and controlled in stressful situations and cooperate well with others. You have good judgment and take responsibility for your tasks.

We are looking for someone who has:
• Restaurant or large-scale catering education at the high school level, or other education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
• Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish

It is an advantage if you have:
• Experience working in a large kitchen
• Experience working with self-control
• Relevant language skills
