Our Operations

The main task of the department/emergency room is to provide acute psychiatric care for children and adolescents up to 18 years old within Uppsala County. Patients can turn to our emergency room around the clock if they need acute psychiatric contact. If there is a need for inpatient care, there are six beds available in the department. We have a close collaboration with child and adolescent psychiatric outpatient care.

The inpatient department, emergency room, and eating disorder care are located adjacent to each other at Uppsala University Hospital in the House of Psychiatry. In the eating disorder care, we have started national highly specialized care for severe eating disorders in collaboration with the emergency care department over the past two years. The current recruitment is related to the establishment of this form of care and in connection with the opening of a second bed within NHV.

Your Mission

As a caregiver in the department, you will work with nursing and departmental tasks at both basic and specialized levels and with various forms of coordination. There is close collaboration with nurses, doctors, and other staff. The work also includes making acute assessments together with a nurse in the emergency room, which is open around the clock. Working night shifts as a caregiver in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry emergency department is an exciting and varied job.

Your Qualifications

You are a trained nursing assistant/caregiver, with experience from child and adolescent psychiatric inpatient care as well as eating disorder care. Experience working with eating disorders is an advantage.

Your Competence

We are looking for someone who is secure, structured, flexible, and responsible. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability and good collaboration skills. You have a genuine interest in psychiatric care work and always put the patient in focus. You treat patients, relatives, and colleagues with respect.
