Area of Operations: Surgery and Urology

We are Uppsala University Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!

Our Operations

At Urology Department 50 C, we investigate, treat, and operate on individuals with diseases of the urinary tract. We are a surgical unit specialized in urology with both planned and emergency operations. Our elective operations focus on cancers of the bladder, prostate, kidneys, and testicles. In the emergency flow, we handle major kidney traumas, acute bleeding, sepsis, and acute injuries to the penis and testicles. We also operate on young adults with urinary tract malformations. We work in teams together with the patient, focusing on the whole person with unique needs, resources, and experiences, not just the disease. In your work, you will meet patients of various ages and situations, where you will make a difference in their lives.

Your Mission

As a nurse, you will work in a team with nursing assistants, doctors, and physiotherapists. The tasks are varied, including standard postoperative care, admissions and discharges, emergency care, care planning, and interventions for patients with complex care needs. You will have the support of our coordinating nurse, pharmacists, and dietitians.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed nurse with experience working night shifts. You are responsible, meticulous, and professional. You collaborate with others in a considerate and respectful manner and are accommodating in your interactions. You are flexible and have a good ability to switch both pace and tasks as the situation requires. With us, flexibility means that you and your colleagues have influence over scheduling and that the team collectively helps ensure the operation runs smoothly.

Switching pace with us means that you should be able to both slow down the workplace tempo and handle situations that require quick decisions and a higher pace.

It is an advantage if you have experience working/interning in inpatient care and/or surgery, as well as experience with the Cosmic data system.

We Offer

We offer a permanent full-time position with a start date according to agreement.

We offer development: We provide individually tailored introductions, regular training (simulations with the SMART concept, CPR training, patient safety training using the TUB concept, reflections, mini-lectures, etc.). We plan, execute, and evaluate training to help you achieve your goals in the best way.

We offer security: Here you can be new on the job, dare to ask questions, seek help when needed, and feel empowered to say no when necessary. We have a nurse who works as a mentor for new employees.

With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
