Kriminalvården is hiring a Nurse for Skogome Prison

Kriminalvården is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand, and client transportation.

The Skogome area is the largest prison in Sweden for men convicted of sexual offenses in security class 2. There is also a smaller psychiatric care unit. Skogome Prison opened in 1957 and is located at Lillhagsvägen 301 on Hisingen in Gothenburg. The prison currently has about 250 employees distributed across several different professional groups and competencies. In a renovation and new construction project starting this year, the prison will have nearly double the number of places, more modern facilities, and larger spaces for treatment and activities.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Kriminalvården provides some open healthcare services, which means that all prisons and remand centers have medical clinics where inmates can seek care. In the clinics, in addition to nurses, there are also general practitioners and psychiatrists. As a nurse, you will have your own clinic for assessing minor ailments, but you will also determine which applicants need to see a doctor. This means you will work with both somatic and psychiatric healthcare for inmates, assist during medical consultations, and administer medications primarily through dose dispensing. Medication management is done in Pascal, and documentation is done in the PMO patient data journal.

Requirements:

• Licensed nurse
• Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish

Meritorious:

• A relevant specialization or further education for the employer, such as in psychiatry, emergency care, or outpatient care
• Work experience in the profession
• Relevant language skills
