Specialist Physicians in Palliative Care

Description

The palliative unit at Skaraborgs Sjukhus consists of doctors, nurses, social workers, and nursing assistants working closely together in teams to provide the best possible palliative care.

We also collaborate closely with other patient-centered professions.

The unit includes a ward with eight beds and a mobile palliative team based in Skövde. We work closely with external partners such as municipalities, primary care, and Hospice Gabriel in Lidköping. These collaborations are vital for the quality and comprehensiveness of the care we provide to our patients. We actively work on developing processes and methods together with our partners.

We are currently undergoing significant development in our operations as we build up a consulting service. The consulting function will be part of the existing team operations. The consulting service will consist of two doctors, two nurses, and one social worker.

This service offers consultative support to all units at SKAS, municipalities, and primary care.

What do we offer you?

Currently, we have three specialist physicians in palliative medicine and one senior physician in surgery. The position includes supervision of junior doctors and an educational assignment. We provide training through lectures both within SkaS, primary care, and municipal operations. We are also involved in the training of ST physicians. As a physician with us, you will work from a patient-centered approach, focusing on patients and their relatives.

The work takes place alternately in the ward, in the mobile team, and in the consulting service. The team consists of nine nurses and one social worker with whom you will have close and continuous collaboration.

We are looking for three specialist physicians with a strong interest in palliative care. Specialist competence in palliative medicine or experience in palliative care is an advantage. For applicants with other specialist competencies, we offer the opportunity to further specialize in palliative medicine.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a team with other professionals while also being able to work independently. You have the ability to meet patients with a holistic view and empathy, as well as good communication skills towards colleagues, patients, and relatives. You want to actively participate in developing and improving our operations, and ultimately the entire palliative care in Skaraborg. The operations are conducted throughout Skaraborg, and therefore travel is part of the job. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
