Specialist Officer for Radio Platoon
Did you enjoy working at the group level as a soldier and like being out in the field? Then a position with us might be right for you. F 16 is growing, and we are now looking for new colleagues who want to be part of our development journey! The Radio Platoon is seeking a specialist officer interested in leading and working at the group level.
About the Unit
The Sensor Company, part of the Air Force's Combat Control and Air Surveillance Battalion, is mobile and has the task of enhancing, complementing, and replacing infrastructure for air radio and radar. The company can quickly reinforce radar coverage, air radio coverage, and communication at strategic points across the country.
Main Responsibilities
As a specialist officer in the Radio Platoon, you will be part of a group of soldiers and specialist officers. Your colleagues in the group consist of technicians, combat medics, vehicle drivers, support gunners, and high-altitude workers. The group's specialist officers typically serve as group leaders, deputy group leaders, or technical commanders.
The technical commander is a specialist in communication and the operation of the platoon's various radio systems. As a technical commander, you are responsible for the group's technical systems, where you will receive more in-depth training.
The group leader leads the daily work and training activities with the support of the technical commander and their deputy. As a group leader or deputy group leader, you may lead regrouping, establishment, surveillance, defense, and other general field or soldier duties.
The daily operations are primarily conducted at Uppsala Garrison; however, the company's tasks apply throughout Sweden. During these assignments, you often work far from other parts of the company.
To fulfill your role, you may be trained in climbing for high-altitude work and obtain vehicle licenses for trucks and heavy trailers. Other competencies may be added as opportunities arise.
Regardless of whether you are a technical commander or group leader, there will be opportunities to deepen your knowledge of the platoon's communication systems. The group also needs to solve basic soldier skills such as group combat and tactical behavior, which is why ground combat specialists are necessary for the company.
Furthermore, employment with the Armed Forces requires good adaptability, as we always work as a team. Our organization is built on cooperation, adaptability, and a shared responsibility for the whole. This means that we are all prepared to support each other, sometimes even outside our own competence and comfort zone. Therefore, as an employee, you may sometimes be faced with new types of tasks. This is a natural part of working in the Armed Forces that benefits both the authority and the employee's development, and you will never be given a task that you do not have the means to accomplish.
