Staff Officer at the Air Staff

About the Position

The work as a staff officer primarily involves you, together with other staff officers, being responsible for distributing and following up incoming matters within the Air Staff. You will have support systems such as Outlook and other management systems within the Air Force at your disposal. Within the staff, you will work with general staff duties, and your role will be in demand across many processes. You will, if necessary, support visits conducted at the Air Staff and participate in exercises to support order management within the Air Staff and the Air Force.

The position of staff officer administration is located in the coordination department of the Air Staff, which consists of civilian and military employees. You will work closely with the staff chief and deputy staff chief.

The Air Staff is a war unit, which means you may be assigned to wartime duties and thus be able to operate across the entire readiness scale. The tasks may include support to other departments within the Air Staff. Business trips may occur.

Main Responsibilities

  • Case management and case follow-up. For example, allocation of open and classified documents.
  • Support to the Air Staff and the department's long-term planning, coordination, and implementation of operations.
  • Support during seminars, meetings, and travel.
  • Represent the department at meetings at the Air Staff.
  • Preparation of minutes in connection with internal and external meetings.
  • Preparation of documents related to tasks assigned to the Coordination Department.
  • Support the section chief with the administrative management of the section's operations.

Qualifications

  • OR 6/7
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing
  • Experience working in an administrative function/position
  • Good and current knowledge of the Office suite
  • Driver's license B

Meritorious Qualifications

  • Experience of staff work within the Armed Forces or another authority
  • Experience working with systems VIDAR, PRIO, SWECCIS, and ISUS
  • Experience in leadership and case follow-up

As a staff officer, it is required that you are results-oriented and have the ability to adapt to changing conditions. We are looking for someone who can work in a team as well as independently. You have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing. It is important that you are a good representative of the Armed Forces and support the Armed Forces' values. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Employment form: Permanent. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those who are not employed by the authority.

The primary and largest task of the Air Staff is to support the Air Force Chief's leadership of all squadrons and schools in the Air Force at all levels of the conflict scale. The Air Staff develops, plans, implements, and evaluates orders and directives issued by the Air Force Chief. The Air Staff consists of approximately 350 employees. The Air Force organizes and trains air, base, and command units and has the mission to monitor and protect Sweden's airspace. This is a mission that continues around the clock, year-round, to ensure Sweden's integrity. Approximately 5,100 employees, both civilian and military, work within the Air Force.
