Release Coordinator for the Halfway House – help make a difference in people's journey towards a new life

Do you want to work closely with people in a crucial phase of their lives and contribute to a safe and sustainable path back to society? Skyddsvärnet in Gothenburg is now looking for a release coordinator for our Halfway House – an operation commissioned by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service to support individuals preparing for conditional release.

At the Halfway House, you will meet women and men who are serving the final part of their prison sentence and who are actively working to establish a crime-free daily life, with work or studies, structure, health, and functioning relationships. Our mission is to be present and provide support in the change process – while ensuring that the decisions, rules, and control measures of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service are followed.

About the role

As a release coordinator, you have a central role in the clients' daily lives, combining a supportive, relationship-building approach with clear follow-up and control responsibilities. The work includes motivational and supportive conversations, practical support in daily structure, as well as documentation and reporting.

An important part of the assignment is to follow up and ensure that clients adhere to the frameworks, scheduled times, and regulations set by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. Therefore, the work also includes control measures such as attendance checks, breath tests, and urine tests, as well as close collaboration and feedback to the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and other relevant stakeholders.

Working hours and employment form

The position is 80 percent and involves scheduled work that takes place around the clock, including on-call duties. You will work closely with colleagues in a team that together is responsible for safety, support, and security at the Halfway House.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone with a social pedagogical education or a university degree in social work, who is comfortable working in a role where support and control go hand in hand. You are clear, communicative, and professional in setting boundaries, while also having a good ability to build trusting relationships.

You work in a structured and independent manner, are solution-oriented, and have good collaboration skills. You have experience in documentation and record-keeping and feel confident making decisions within given frameworks. Experience from the Swedish Prison and Probation Service or work related to crime, mental health, and addiction issues is an advantage.

You share Skyddsvärnet's values and have at least five years of work experience.

We conduct a wide range of social work, including halfway houses on behalf of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, sheltered housing, housing support, outreach work, youth activities, and labor market initiatives. Mental health is an important part of our work, and through our social medicine reception, our clients can access psychiatric expertise when needed.
