Stenungsund Municipality is an expanding coastal municipality with approximately 28,030 inhabitants, a strong business community, residential areas close to the sea, and good communication opportunities. The Infrastructure operation belongs to the Community Building Sector. The sector also includes Strategy and Coordination, Exploitation, and Environment/Building. Infrastructure is responsible for the units of technology, operations, and waste. Within the technology unit, work includes project management of infrastructure projects such as water and sewage expansion, road expansion, or other issues related to infrastructure such as traffic, water, or roads. The position is located under the technology unit, which currently consists of fourteen people, eight of whom are placed under water planning and five under traffic planning. The position is located in the municipal building, centrally located in Stenungsund, right by the sea and the harbor. The group is relatively small but has high competence in various areas and complements each other's knowledge. The technology unit also collaborates closely with other units.

The infrastructure in Stenungsund faces new challenges and an expected high rate of expansion. Increased immigration to the municipality for both individuals and businesses means that the municipality needs to work intensively on the expansion of new areas.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a Water Engineer to join us in the Technology Unit to ensure access to clean water and functioning sewage systems and to help build a sustainable infrastructure based on new requirements, an increasing population, and climate change. As a Water Engineer, you will monitor the interests of the water unit throughout the entire community building process.

The municipality faces challenges regarding water supply and needs to invest significantly in the coming years. Capacity-enhancing measures are underway at treatment plants, as well as investigations regarding a new waterworks and other measures to secure future water supply. The municipality will also work strategically to reduce inflow water, stormwater/flood issues, and is in the starting blocks to begin implementing a developed renewal plan.

The administration has developed models of the pipeline network that make it easier to work strategically with the facility and future needs.

As we are a smaller organization, you will play a central role in the development of the water facility and the challenges and opportunities we face.

You will be responsible for water and stormwater-related issues in various projects and detailed plans. This may involve independently managing your own projects, as well as participating as an expert. You will investigate and handle various cases, respond to referrals, detailed plans that come for consultation and review, and manage questions from various authorities, etc.

You will also conduct investigations regarding measures on wastewater, stormwater, and water pipelines. Depending on your competence, interest, and need to assist in other issues within the unit, such as connection issues, contracts, design, compensation issues, etc.

As a Water Engineer, you will be offered a varied and diverse job, ranging from reviewing documents to field visits, as well as long-term coordination and planning of sustainable community building with many stakeholders. We are keen for you to develop in your role and invest heavily in skills enhancement in various forms. This is a dynamic workplace where tasks may change over time.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with an engineering degree in road and water and/or other education in community building/technology that the employer assesses as equivalent.

We prefer that you have several years of experience as a Water Engineer or as a project manager for water projects. If you are the right person, we encourage you to apply even if you do not have much work experience in the profession.

It is an advantage if you have worked broadly in various water areas.

You should have practical experience working within municipal operations with water issues or experience working as a consultant for municipal water operations. It is also advantageous if you have knowledge/experience regarding connection issues, contracts, design, water law, and the water bank (mapping/measurement).

Since you will have many contacts both internally and externally, you have good communication skills and can express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish and have good collaboration skills.

A valid driver's license (B) is a requirement for the position.
