Gothenburg is growing and changing rapidly.

Few cities have the development potential that exists here. The planning of future Gothenburg is a team effort with many involved, and the property management department plays a central role in this challenge. We play an active role in the transition to a more sustainable society, which is evident in several of our exciting and challenging projects, such as the construction of Sweden's first fossil-free preschool Hoppet and the Friedländers gata preschool, where the focus was on reuse to reduce climate impact. Together with other departments in the city, we create conditions for a competitive, attractive, and long-term sustainable city.

The property management and development department is responsible for ensuring the usability of our properties over time with good technical status, sustainability, and satisfied customers. The department is responsible for ordering the implementation of maintenance and investment measures, repairs, and ongoing supervision and management of the management's execution departments. We have a strategic role in the entire technology and sustainability area, and we develop and follow up on technical requirements and guidelines needed in operation and construction, as well as lead and coordinate environmental issues in the management. We actively work to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and achieve the goals in Gothenburg City's Environmental and Climate Program 2021-2030.

We are now looking for a technical leader – sustainable building, with a focus on climate transition. As a technical leader, you will be offered an independent and exciting job where you are an important part of the management's environmental and climate work, to achieve Gothenburg City's environmental goals. You will work closely with the various departments of the management to drive the work forward.

Your Responsibilities:

  • As a technical leader – sustainable building, you are the main responsible for the management's innovation program Hoppet – focusing on the broad and cost-effective transition where greenhouse gas emissions in new and renovation projects should be reduced to nearly zero by 2030.
  • You lead and coordinate the overall work for the management's concrete innovation initiatives in selected construction projects, aiming to test new technology and methods and show the way for the broad climate transition.
  • You lead and initiate technical development projects and investigations within sustainable building.
  • You work closely with project managers, environmental specialists, and other technical experts.
  • The position includes spreading information and building networks through communication via media, conferences, websites, etc.

Qualifications

For this position, we are looking for someone with a relevant five-year university education along with several years of experience in independently leading similar work, preferably in the property or construction industry, as well as project management. You have a comprehensive understanding of how environment, construction, system, and material choices interact, as well as experience in R&D work and building-related sustainability issues. Additionally, we see that experience with calculations, LCC/LCA, and good knowledge of construction projects is important for success in the role.

You are passionate about the transition to a sustainable society with low climate impact. To succeed in the role of technical leader – sustainable building, you have strong drive, are analytical and systematic, and have the capacity to manage a complex innovation process, complex R&D issues, and projects. You will be a key player in achieving our goal of becoming a fossil-free construction and property management, and we believe you are someone who has a good ability to communicate, inspire, and engage, as well as humbly utilize the skills of others.
