At Elmia AB, we firmly believe in the power of physical meetings; we create meeting places that enable business development for our customers.
Our industry, infrastructure, and transport fairs are important hubs for the sectors driving Sweden forward. As our current business area manager is retiring, we are looking for her successor who, with secure leadership and business acumen, wants to shape the next step in our development. Is it you we are looking for? – Anna-Karin Zinnerfors, CEO Elmia.
Meetings that create opportunities, ideas that become business, an arena where innovations are showcased – that is Elmia. Here, companies, experts, and decision-makers gather to build relationships, exchange knowledge, and drive development.
At Elmia AB, wholly owned by Jönköping Municipality, we have a clear mission: to create attractive arenas that strengthen the business community in which we operate, and we also aim to contribute to the tourism effect for our city. As a business area manager with us, you will be involved in decision-making, thus having significant opportunities to influence and make a real difference – for our customers, for the industries we represent, and for the tourism sector.
Your Future Challenge
As a business area manager, you will have strategic and commercial overall responsibility for about ten of our fairs within industry, infrastructure, and transport, including Elmia Subcontractor, Elmia Lastbil, and Elmia Produktionsmässor. You will lead a business area with 13 direct reports, including fair managers, communicators, coordinators, and a department manager. Through your team, you will lead business development with a focus on long-term growth, quality, and customer benefit. In the management team, you will be a key person responsible for contributing to the company's overall strategy and business goals.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the business area with a focus on customer value, business opportunities, and profitable growth.
- Build and further develop strategic partnerships, networks, and relationships with key customers in close collaboration with the sales manager.
- Drive the long-term development of existing fairs and initiate new concepts and businesses.
- In close collaboration with the Business Area Manager for Green Industries and the rest of the management team, develop Elmia's working methods and processes with a focus on customer experience, profitability, and the organization's capabilities.
- Be a clear and professional representative for Elmia in industry contexts.
- Be responsible for budget, forecasts, results, and follow-up, and ensure that the department's projects follow common processes.
The position is a permanent employment located at Elmia's office in Jönköping. You will report directly to the CEO. Evening and weekend work may occur during fairs and events.
Are You the One We Are Looking For?
We are looking for an experienced manager with a strong grounding in the industrial or infrastructure sector. You likely come from the marketing and sales side, perhaps from a service company within the industry – or you currently work as a manager in the fair industry with responsibility for a corresponding customer segment. We see that you have an established network and a good understanding of the industry's business logic and thrive in the context.
As a leader, you are secure, communicative, and motivated by creating results through others. You create engagement, direction, and consensus – and you are used to taking responsibility for both results and people. You thrive in a role where strategic choices are combined with operational presence.
To succeed in the role, we further see that you have previously:
- Had budget responsibility for a business area or equivalent.
- Experience leading through other managers.
- Several years of personnel responsibility for larger groups with broadly skilled roles.
- Experience in driving, developing, and following up cross-functional processes.
- Experience working in a management team.
- Negotiation experience and comfort in commercial dialogues.
- Higher education or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, as well as good proficiency in Excel and CRM systems.
Are you ready to take the next step in your career and become a part of Elmia? We promise a developing and varied role in a dynamic environment where you can truly make a difference. And we also have a lot of fun on the way to the goal! Warmly welcome your application to Elmia.
