ABOUT THE POSITION
ASSA ABLOY is now seeking a Technical Writing Manager who will be responsible for leading a global documentation team while actively contributing as a technical writer. As a Technical Writing Manager, you will work with products within ASSA ABLOY's Business Segment Pedestrian (BSP). The main products include sliding doors, swing doors, revolving doors, and security control products for entrances. ASSA ABLOY's door automation solutions serve millions of people in public environments, where ASSA ABLOY is proud to adhere to several national and international safety standards without compromising user experience, energy efficiency, sustainability, or safety.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities
As a Technical Writing Manager, you will lead a global documentation team and work broadly across several technical areas in a dynamic environment. The role combines operational technical writing with clear leadership responsibility, where you ensure that technical information is transformed into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation tailored for the right audience.
You will create both text and visual content in tools such as SolidWorks Composer and Adobe Illustrator, as well as manage documentation in CCMS tools such as Quanos Schema ST4. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that documentation is of high quality, meets international safety requirements, and follows the agile workflows and timelines of product development.
Furthermore, your responsibilities will include:
- Producing and maintaining technical documentation such as manuals, installation instructions, service documentation, and product labels by independently gathering information from experts in mechanics, software, electronics, and procurement.
- Defining team goals and implementing documentation strategies, as well as being responsible for documentation standards, templates, best practices, and tool selection, focusing on efficient workflows and continuous process improvement.
- Managing the team's operational activities through delegation and prioritization, as well as monitoring and reporting the team's capacity, deliveries, and status to management.
- Being responsible for coaching, mentoring, and career planning, as well as managing recruitment, onboarding, and compensation for team members.
- Collaborating closely with R&D, product development, marketing, sourcing, and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and consistent documentation.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU WHO
- Holds a bachelor's degree in technical communication or engineering, along with solid experience as a Technical Writer in a technical or engineering environment.
- Is confident in leading and coaching teams, preferably within a global matrix organization.
- Has experience with software-driven electromechanical products and is accustomed to working with agile methods (Jira/Confluence, Kanban/Scrum).
- Communicates fluently in English and is completely comfortable using the language professionally in both speech and writing.
- Has good experience in creating technical illustrations in tools such as SolidWorks Composer and Adobe Illustrator.
It is a plus if you have:
- Experience with CCMS tools such as Quanos Schema ST4.
- Knowledge of international safety standards and regulatory requirements for documentation.
- Basic knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
