Job Responsibilities
As an operations technician in networking and data centers, you will be an important part of Generic's team and responsible for operations in a business-critical IT environment. You will work practically with cabling, racking, and hardware, as well as technically with networks, firewalls, and servers. The role includes monitoring, troubleshooting, change management, documentation, and security, as well as being on-call according to schedule and providing support to colleagues and customer service as needed.

Job responsibilities include:

• Daily operations & troubleshooting in networks/firewalls/servers.
• Configuration work (switches, routers, firewalls, VPN), platform patching, and hardware lifecycle.
• Monitoring & incidents: alert analysis, clear reporting.
• Change management: runbooks and risk/rollback planning.
• Security & compliance: access control, baseline hygiene, ISO 27001.
• Collaboration: close work with operations colleagues and development; customer contact may occur.
• Third-line support to customer service for more complex issues.

You will work from one of Generic's operations offices or data centers, where you have access to technical equipment, collegial support, and an environment characterized by collaboration and quality. You will report to and closely collaborate with Generic's CTO Fredrik.

We are looking for someone who:
We believe that your personal qualities are crucial for how well you will thrive in the role at Generic. We are looking for a self-driven and practical person who enjoys a technical and dynamic environment. You are structured and methodical in your work, especially when troubleshooting, and document clearly and accurately.

You are comfortable in terminal and data center environments and can communicate clearly with both technicians and non-technicians, in Swedish and English.

You have analytical skills, take initiative, and are accustomed to quickly prioritizing and acting in the event of incidents or operational issues. Experience working under pressure or in on-call situations is an advantage.

Expected experience for the position:

• Networking/Cisco: switching/routing, VLAN, BGP/OSPF, basic QoS.
• Firewalls/VPN: policy/ACL, NAT, basic IPS/IDS, IPsec/SSL-VPN.
• Linux: network services, logs, package management.
• Windows Server: basic AD, RDP, updates, and basic configuration.
• Data center: cabling, fiber/patch, rack/rails, physical troubleshooting.
• Monitoring & logging: syslog/ELK, runbooks.
• On-call experience: experience being first on the scene, triaging, and escalating.

Desirable experience

• Firewall products: e.g., Fortinet/WatchGuard.
• Automation: Ansible/Bash/Python for network/OS tasks.
• Virtualization: Kubernetes, containers, VMware.
• Experience from telecom/CPaaS and environments with high data integrity requirements.

Requirements for the position:

• Good communication skills in Swedish and English.
