Licensed Nurse for Emergency Care

Are you a licensed nurse with an interest in emergency care? We are looking for nurses for our emergency care departments (AVA, MAVA) where you can expect fast flows, varied patient groups, and the opportunity to develop a broad competence.

We prioritize present leadership and professional development. If this sounds appealing, welcome to apply!

You will be offered

  • a person-centered leadership with a personal development plan based on your needs and clear career paths with opportunities for job structures such as nursing specialist, assistant university nurse (BUS), and student responsible
  • ongoing competence development through participation in various scenarios, workshops, lectures, internal training, case reviews, or deviation management in groups
  • to staff our various units as needed, which is part of your competence development to become a complete emergency nurse
  • the opportunity to rotate to other units within our nursing area such as the emergency department, surgical wards, infectious disease wards, orthopedic wards. If you have several years of experience, there is an opportunity to rotate to intermediate care
  • shortened weekly working hours (30-34 hours/week) with concentrated weekend and/or night shifts (we work according to the Stockholm region's working time model) and the possibility of schedule adjustments
  • the opportunity for specialist training in emergency care, where you work 50% and study 50%, but receive a full-time salary for 2 years
  • the opportunity to mentor nursing students and newly hired colleagues as an experienced nurse, or work as a management nurse in the unit.

Of course, you will also benefit from our general benefits that Karolinska University Hospital offers you.

About the position

AVA receives patients with acute conditions in medicine, surgery, infection, and orthopedics directly from the Emergency Department. Here, patients are examined, diagnosed, and treated in the acute phase, and when the patient is diagnosed, they are moved to the theme where the diagnosis belongs, or it is assessed that the patient no longer needs further care and can therefore be discharged home. We have the capability for telemetry monitoring, vital parameter monitoring, NIV treatment, and optiflow treatment. The average length of stay in AVA is about 1.5 days.

MAVA receives acutely ill patients with various medical conditions such as infections, intoxications, unclear chest pains, arrhythmias, and elderly multi-sick patients. We have a high patient flow and short lengths of stay. Patients come to us from the emergency department or from other wards that need a higher level of monitoring. Our goal is to offer a stimulating and developing work environment, where you work closely with colleagues from various professions in emergency care. Through effective routines, participation, and competent staff, we create a good workplace for the future of care.
