The Department of Orthodontics is linked to a teaching clinic for Karolinska Institutet's basic and specialist training in dentistry. The department is responsible for specialist training for dentists from various nations within and outside the EU. Here, specialist dentists, orthodontic assistants, dental nurses, receptionists, and dental technicians work.

Your Role

We are looking for a lecturer, a PhD specialist dentist in orthodontics who wants to help educate the future dental workforce. You will teach and supervise in the basic training for dentists but also participate in other educational assignments for dental hygienists or dentists with foreign degrees. You will provide both theoretical and clinical supervision. In addition, you will treat your own orthodontic patients at the specialist clinic for orthodontics, University Dental Care at Campus Flemingsberg. You will have the opportunity for pedagogical and research development. For this position, we prefer that you can work full-time with us, but there may be some room for flexibility.

Who are you?

Eligible for employment as a lecturer is one who has demonstrated pedagogical skill, has obtained a doctoral degree, or has equivalent scientific competence or other professional skills that are significant in relation to the content of the employment and the tasks included in the employment.

For employment as a lecturer, good scientific skill and good pedagogical skill must be met. (See instructions for the employment regulations for teachers at Karolinska Institutet).

Additionally, you must have completed higher education pedagogical training lasting three weeks according to SUHF's recommendations for qualifying higher education pedagogical training. If such training is lacking at the time of employment, you must undergo such training within the first two years of employment.

Assessment Criteria

For employment as a lecturer at Karolinska Institutet, the eligibility requirements and assessment criteria specified in the instructions for the employment regulations apply in relation to the established employment profile.

To fit the role, we see that you have the following qualifications.

Requirements:

• Licensed dentist
• Specialist dentist in orthodontics with a license issued by the National Board of Health and Welfare
• PhD
• Can express yourself well in speech and writing in both Swedish and English

It is particularly meritorious that the applicant has demonstrated:

• Experience in teaching in the field of orthodontics at the undergraduate level
• Own ongoing research projects/own research funding

We are looking for someone with excellent clinical and pedagogical skills. You have a knack for taking initiative and are skilled at working in multidisciplinary teams. A prerequisite for the position is that you master both Swedish and English.
