Business Director for Västerås City

As the Business Director, you play a central role in strengthening Västerås' business community and contributing to the city's long-term attractiveness at local, regional, and national levels. You will have the opportunity to drive and influence several exciting projects that have a direct impact on the future of Västerås! Your Responsibilities

The Business and Market area at the City Management Office operates through two units, the visit unit and the business unit. An engaged team of 22 employees. Business and Market work strategically and operationally to strengthen and develop Västerås' attractiveness for businesses, visitors, residents, students, and talents. Additionally, the area leads the work with the place brand Västerås. Collaboration with the business community and other stakeholders contributes to more visitors, a strong business climate, and more business establishments.

With a communicative, attentive, and trust-based leadership style, you ensure that resources are used efficiently and that the operations maintain a high standard. You drive development and change processes to meet the needs and expectations of the business community, the city, and its residents.

Through your ability to build and nurture relationships, you lead the city's business efforts, and through strong indirect leadership, you create direction, coordination, and significant impact, as several issues lie in other parts of the organization. You create collaborations internally in political and municipal groups, but also externally with other companies, authorities, other stakeholders, and businesses in the industry. You are the face of the municipality in these forums where you are expected to take space, invite dialogue, collaborate with others, and contribute your expertise and engagement in business issues. You are an important representative of the municipality's business efforts and also a significant representative of Västerås City as a whole. You are part of the management group of the administration and the group of companies.

The role also includes handling media exposure in a professional manner.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for a brave and experienced leader who is used to leading your operations through other managers, driven by creating results and strengthening the business community in Västerås. You have a degree at the academic level, good analytical skills, and the ability to see causal relationships. You are a good communicator and master Swedish and English fluently in both speech and writing. You have several years of managerial experience with good results in finance, leadership, employees, and operations in a larger complex organization. You also have good knowledge and experience in business and tourism industry issues such as industry development, establishment, investment, or business development.

It is an advantage if you have experience and knowledge of how a politically governed organization operates. As a person, you are secure, clear, driven, and courageous. You are used to working strategically, long-term, and commercially, and you have a good ability to adapt your work to changing circumstances.
