Our goal is that by 2029, more than 50 percent of Sweden's tenants will be members with us, and we will double the number of elected representatives and active members to 22,000 people. Leadership within Hyresgästföreningen

As a leader within Hyresgästföreningen, you create clarity and engagement for the mission among your employees. You communicate goals and create participation in the work by encouraging, involving, and utilizing good ideas. You are a role model and a good ambassador for Hyresgästföreningen. Your leadership is based on our values and the requirements and expectations we place on you as a manager and leader within Hyresgästföreningen. Hyresgästföreningen operates according to the leadership model Developing Leadership (UL).

Your mission

You will help drive the change work towards Hyresgästföreningen's goal of increasing the number of members and elected representatives. You are an important part of our work to expand collaboration with our elected representatives. As a leader in the change process, you build trust through co-creation, communication, and clarity. You lead by motivating employees to dare to try new paths forward. The role includes an operational advocacy and communication assignment to make Hyresgästföreningen's activities visible. You are responsible for expanding networks and collaborations with other organizations.

The unit manager in Västerås is one of seven unit managers in the regions Aros-Gävle and Mitt. The role includes direct supervisory responsibility for employees working as community developers, negotiators, lawyers, case handlers, and administrators. Additionally, there is a coordination responsibility for communicators and member recruiters placed in the office. You are responsible for results, management, planning, follow-up, and the daily operations of the organization. You are part of the management team for the regions Aros-Gävle and Mitt and report to the regional manager. Personal suitability will be given great importance.

Your profile

  • You are a leader with a drive for development
  • You are a good organizer, structured, able to prioritize, set goals, follow up, and provide feedback
  • You have experience from the non-profit sector and/or voluntary engagement and possess a genuine interest in society
  • A good communicator both internally and externally and possess very good collaboration skills
  • Clear with the ability to listen and sense people
  • You share Hyresgästföreningen's values
  • You have managerial experience
  • A university degree in a relevant field or experience deemed equivalent

The position is a permanent full-time employment with unregulated working hours, and some evening work may occur. We apply a six-month probationary period. The workplace is located at Norra Källgatan 17 in Västerås. The role includes some travel. Start date by agreement.

Hyresgästföreningen is divided into nine regions across the country. The work and needs may vary depending on the geographical area. All regions coordinate the efforts needed for their respective districts, and all expertise is gathered in the form of lawyers, negotiators, and business developers. As an organization, we are passionate about everyone having the right to good housing at a reasonable cost.

Region Mitt consists of 52 municipalities in four counties: Örebro County, Värmland, Sörmland, and Dalarna. In the region, we have about 64,000 members, about 1,200 elected representatives, and about 100 employees. The region coordinates the internal resources needed to create housing with safety, influence, and community for tenants. Among our employees, we value a democratic value base and previous experience of working in a non-profit organization.
