Kiruna Municipality chooses to invest in preventive and early interventions for our children and students with the aim of promoting good school attendance.

The School Social Team is a new initiative within the school and social services aimed at promoting children's and students' safety, participation, and ability to succeed in their education. The target group will be preschool to grade 3.

The team consists of a representative from the school and a representative from Social Services. The School Social Team is responsible for building bridges between home, social services, and preschool/school. The goal is for preschool/school and social services to have the opportunity to work together to strengthen the conditions for children and students to achieve educational goals, create a calm and safe environment, increase student attendance in school, and provide support to break an unfavorable development.

The team has a cross-professional working method where social services can assist with preventive and trust-building work in preschool/school. The School Social Team can offer support measures to guardians and facilitate communication and collaboration between guardians and other actors surrounding the individual child/student.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with guardians, social services, preschool/school staff, student health, and other functions.
• Early identification of children and students in need of support, in dialogue with guardians and preschool/school.
• Contribute with preschool/school expertise regarding children and families in preventive work.
• Provide advice, support, and short interventions directly to children, students, and their guardians.
• If necessary, motivate and guide to social services' regular interventions.
• Monitor and initiate interventions for groups of guardians.
• Participate in and lead collaboration meetings with student health, social services, preschool/school, and other actors.
• Document and follow up on implemented interventions according to applicable laws and guidelines.
• Actively contribute to establishing, developing, and shaping the working methods and methods of the School Social Team.

QUALIFICATIONS

As a counselor within the School Social Team, relevant education in psychosocial work is desired. Examples of relevant education in psychosocial work include social work education/social work degree, psychology education/psychology degree, behavioral science education/behavioral scientist, human resource education/human resource specialist, sociology, social psychology, and social pedagogy education.

We would like you to have experience working in preschool/school or in social services' child and youth area. Good knowledge of the Social Services Act (SoL), the Education Act, and confidentiality legislation is an advantage. Experience of collaboration between preschool/school, social services, and other actors is also preferred.

We would like you to possess:

• Good collaboration skills and be communicative.

• Engagement in developing preventive work for children and youth.
• Flexible and solution-focused.
• Independent and proactive.

The counselor in the School Social Team will be organized under the Culture and Education Administration, but the daily work will take place in close proximity to home and preschool/school. The School Social Team will have its common workplace adjacent to the Open Care and Family Center. The team will receive relevant supervision.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

A driver's license (B) is a requirement.
