Kiruna municipality chooses to invest in preventive and early interventions for our children and students to promote good school attendance.

The School Social Team is a new initiative within education and social services aimed at promoting children's and students' safety, participation, and ability to succeed in their schooling. The target group will be preschool to grade 3.

The team consists of a representative from the school and a representative from Social Services. The School Social Team is responsible for building bridges between home, social services, and preschool/school. The goal is for the preschool/school and social services to work together to strengthen the conditions for children and students to achieve the educational goals, create a calm and safe environment, increase students' attendance at school, and provide support to break an unfavorable development.

The team has a cross-professional approach where social services can assist with preventive and trust-building work in preschool/school. The School Social Team can offer support measures to guardians and facilitate communication and collaboration between guardians and other actors involved with the individual child/student.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with guardians, social services, preschool/school staff, student health, and other functions.
• Early identification of children and students in need of support, in dialogue with guardians and preschool/school.
• Contribute the preschool/school's expertise in child and family matters to the preventive work.
• Provide advice, support, and short interventions directly to children, students, and their guardians.
• If necessary, motivate and guide to social services' regular interventions.
• Monitor and initiate interventions for groups of guardians.
• Participate in and lead collaboration meetings with student health, social services, preschool/school, and other actors.
• Document and follow up on implemented measures according to applicable laws and guidelines.
• Actively contribute to establishing, developing, and shaping the School Social Team's working methods and approaches.

QUALIFICATIONS

For the social worker in the School Social Team, a degree in social work or other education deemed equivalent by the employer is required.

Experience working in social services' child and youth area is an advantage. Good knowledge of the Social Services Act (SoL), the Education Act, and confidentiality legislation is advantageous. Experience in collaboration between school, social services, and other actors is advantageous. The ability to build trusting relationships with children, youth, and parents is advantageous.

Personal qualities that are advantageous include:

The social worker in the School Social Team will be organized under social services' Open Care with a shared workplace adjacent to Open Care and the Family Center. The team will receive relevant supervision.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability. A valid driver's license (B) is a requirement.
