Investigation Unit
The regional investigation unit is responsible, together with police areas, for the region's investigative activities. The investigation unit coordinates and drives operational development from a regional perspective in collaboration with the national operational department and other regions. The regional investigation unit works with, among other things, the investigation of serious crimes, victim support work, and forensic science. Continuous change efforts are underway at the investigation unit aimed at successfully handling complex investigation cases.
Environmental and Occupational Safety Crime Group
We investigate environmental crimes, occupational safety crimes, and illegal predator hunting with the crime forum in Stockholm and Gotland. The group consists of a group leader, a preliminary investigation leader, and investigators. The cases handled by the group are primarily led by prosecutors at the National Unit for Environmental and Occupational Safety Cases (REMA).
The Environmental and Occupational Safety Crime Group handles, for example:
- Causing bodily harm
- Causing another's death
- Discharge of hazardous substances
- Illegal transport of hazardous waste
- Environmentally hazardous activities without the necessary permits
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Duties
In the role of preliminary investigation leader, you are primarily responsible for exercising leadership within the investigation process in consultation with the group leader. This means that you will:
- Make decisions in or outside the preliminary investigation in accordance with your appointment/delegation
- Lead, support, and coach the investigators in the group
- Coordinate and create an overall picture of ongoing investigations
- Ensure that the operations are conducted according to the intentions and instructions of the Police Authority in accordance with applicable legislation, regulations, and other rules
- Participate in training initiatives and evaluation of operations
- Drive the development of investigative activities together with the group leader
- Be responsible for the preliminary investigation in cases throughout the Stockholm region.
- Have close cooperation with, among others, the Prosecutor's Office, County Administrative Boards, environmental officers in Stockholm municipalities, and within the Region of Gotland.
QUALIFICATIONS
This is an opportunity for you who have:
- An academic degree in, for example, law, criminology, behavioral science, sociology, or economics, alternatively a Swedish police degree, or other education that the employer deems equivalent
- Completed Police Authority training regarding preliminary investigation leadership or other training that qualifies you to lead preliminary investigations
- Experience in investigative tasks that the employer deems relevant for the position
- Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish both verbally and in writing
It is meritorious if you also have:
- Experience in a supervisory position
- Completed the Police Authority's advanced training in preliminary investigations
