We welcome you as a specialist physician in psychiatry to an exciting job where you will become our leading medical expert for patients with psychosis who need round-the-clock care.

The Adult Psychiatry Department 88 is an inpatient department with 13 beds for patients with psychotic disorders. Here, patients are treated voluntarily but also under the Mental Health Act. On the ward, you will work alongside medical trainees, nurses, nursing assistants, social workers, medical secretaries, and peer support.

The psychosis area consists of four outpatient units and three inpatient units. We have a well-functioning service for newly diagnosed psychosis patients and work in outpatient care according to ACT and FACT principles. Today, the collaboration between inpatient and outpatient care, as well as cooperation with the municipality, is well developed and is constantly improving. The psychosis area in Malmö-Trelleborg is tasked with providing effective psychosis care through respectful interaction to enable a better life for people with psychosis.

We offer psychiatric interventions for individuals with psychosis issues. In our work, we take a holistic view of mental health that is based on a combination of medical, psychological, and social interventions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of our team, your main responsibilities will include assessment, investigation, and treatment of patients with suspected or previously diagnosed psychotic disorders, in close collaboration with colleagues on the ward and within outpatient teams.

You will play an important role in supervising nursing staff, medical trainees, and students. Furthermore, the psychosis area offers a recurring METIS course, where you will have the opportunity to share your expertise with future specialists. Additionally, you will be part of a competent team of specialists responsible for staffing the on-call line at the emergency department.

QUALIFICATIONS

You who are applying are a licensed physician with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. In addition, you have specialist competence in psychiatry. Language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s level scale is a requirement. You should have completed or planned a course in clinical supervision. We also expect you to have good knowledge of current legislation, particularly the Mental Health Act.

For employment as a senior physician, you should also have:

• full-time service of at least three years (documented effective time)
• clinical skill and independence within psychiatry
• defined medical responsibility and knowledge area
• documented teaching and supervision merits.

It is advantageous if you have experience working in the area of psychosis, good familiarity with Melior, and the Microsoft Office suite.

At a university hospital unit, it is required that physicians have pedagogical experience and training. This can be acquired through supervision of, for example, nursing and medical students, as well as physicians in training and as co- or main supervisors of doctoral candidates. Clearly describe in your application any completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience in supervision, and teaching at various levels.
