School Social Worker – Temporary Position for Approximately 1 Year

About Our Schools

Stockholm International Academy operates two independent F–9 schools that follow the Swedish curriculum and provide instruction in Swedish.

SIA Häggvik – Sollentuna

Located in a quiet area near commuter trains and buses. The school has about 330 students and modern, purpose-built facilities – including its own sports hall and well-equipped special rooms for crafts, natural sciences, and home economics. The school has two playgrounds that invite play and movement.

SIA Älvsjö/Hägersten – southern Stockholm

An F–9 school with approximately 200 students, within walking distance from Älvsjö train station. The school is close to nature with the forest as its nearest neighbor, contributing to safety, creativity, and a conducive learning environment.

Both schools have after-school care and clubs, as well as an active school library where the school librarian works closely with students on language development.

Student Health and Values

Student health is a central part of the schools' work. We work solution-focused and health-promoting, with the goal that every student can develop academically, socially, and emotionally. The social worker has a natural place close to the students' daily lives, which strengthens relationship building.

Good language skills are an important foundation for learning, and the schools actively work to provide students with good conditions in Swedish and English. Our employees describe the work environment as open, helpful, and welcoming.

Teamwork

As a school social worker, you will be an important part of the schools' student health team (EHT). You will work:

• together with the school nurse, special educators, assistant principals, and principal in the overall student health work

• driving the schools' safety team, where you work systematically with safety, well-being, incident follow-up, and preventive measures

• as part of the attendance team, where you contribute with psychosocial expertise in promoting attendance and countering problematic absenteeism

The work is conducted close to the operations and in close collaboration with teachers, mentors, and other staff.

About the Position

• Temporary position for approximately 1 year
• 100% working hours, distributed as follows:
• 60% at SIA Häggvik
• 40% at SIA Älvsjö/Hägersten
• Possibility of continued employment depending on the needs of the operations

As a school social worker, you will work health-promoting and preventive at the individual, group, and organizational levels. You:

• lead and develop the psychosocial student health work
• support teams in their work around students' learning and well-being
• actively work against discrimination, harassment, and bullying
• contribute to students developing socially, emotionally, and reaching their full academic potential
• collaborate with student health professionals as well as external authorities and actors

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• has a degree in social work
• preferably has experience in social work, especially in schools
• is independent, confident, proactive, and has good collaboration skills
• finds it easy to build trusting relationships with both students and adults
