IT Support Technician

MSB works for a safer society in a changing world with a focus on the development of civil defense. As of January 1, 2026, we are the Authority for Civil Defense. The Authority for Civil Defense has two clear roles: we are the leading, directing, and coordinating authority in civil defense, and we are the sector-responsible authority for the preparedness sector of rescue services and protection of the civilian population. The Authority for Civil Defense's vision is "Together for a strong civil defense".

We are looking for an IT support technician for the Digital Workplace Unit.

The unit is responsible for the internal helpdesk function that handles cases from the entire authority. The unit consists of about 20 employees with various competencies and areas of responsibility.

Your Responsibilities and Tasks

Your tasks include:

• You handle cases that come to our helpdesk via phone, email, web, and personal meetings at our service desk. This means that you receive, prioritize, troubleshoot, and respond to these cases. There is a wide variety of cases that you handle, ranging from complex IT problems and support needs with digital meeting room technology to account management and orders for personal IT equipment and service cards.
• You collaborate within your own group as well as with other IT technicians and end-users to solve problems as quickly and efficiently as possible.
• You participate in the development of instructions and routines. You take part in IT projects and contribute with technical expertise and represent the unit and end-users.
• You participate in all lifecycle management of personal IT equipment, which includes actively participating in the selection and development of new hardware solutions and keeping them updated.
• You are responsible for ensuring that the inventory register is current and deliver reports when requested.

Your Knowledge and Skills

We are looking for someone who:

• has several years of experience as a support technician in a Microsoft environment. Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory is a requirement.
• has several years of experience in user support in a medium to large organization and finds it to be the most enjoyable work.
• has experience in lifecycle management of hardware, primarily laptops and mobile phones.
• is structured and can express themselves pedagogically and clearly in writing.
• communicates fluently in Swedish, both spoken and written.

It is an advantage if you have experience working in an organization with high security requirements.

About the Employment

We offer you a permanent full-time position that begins with a probationary period.

Your place of employment will be Stockholm, and travel may occur as part of the job.

The majority of our positions require placement in a security class. Typically, Swedish citizenship is required. When placed in a security class, a security clearance with a background check will be conducted before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at MSB are designated for military service.

About Us

Our IT and digitalization operations currently consist of about 60 people within the support department and are located in two offices, in Karlstad and Stockholm. The Digital Workplace Unit is responsible for helpdesk, personal IT equipment, meeting room technology, telephony, software, and more.
