HR Officer at the Department of Molecular Biosciences
The Department of Molecular Biosciences, Wenner-Gren Institute (MBW) conducts experimental basic research in molecular cell biology, integrative biology, and infection and immunobiology.
The research environment is characterized by modern and advanced methodologies and has a strong international profile. MBW is one of the larger departments within the Faculty of Science at Stockholm University, with approximately 25 research groups and around 160 employees, of which about 40 are PhD students. Job Responsibilities
As an HR Officer, you will work closely with the department's staff and act as a contact person for the central HR department regarding payroll and personnel administrative matters. The role is broad and varied, requiring independence, good collaboration skills, and a high level of service orientation. You will handle a wide range of personnel-related tasks clearly linked to our mission in education and research.
The position is part of the department's administrative group, which, in addition to the HR Officer role, consists of three economists, two administrators, and one IT support staff member. The group is led by the administrative manager of the department, with whom you will work closely and report to.
Examples of Job Responsibilities:
- handling all HR-related matters, such as recruitment ads, hiring decisions, and payroll issues
- supporting managers and staff in personnel matters regarding, for example, work permits, insurance, representation, certificates, and labor law issues
- providing support for international staff arriving in Sweden, which includes contacts with the Migration Agency, the Social Insurance Agency, the Tax Agency, among others
- administration of leave, payroll management, travel expense reports, reimbursements, etc.
- monitoring fixed-term employment and applying labor law regulations
- handling pension and employment matters as well as payroll issues
- registration in personnel systems during recruitment (Varbi) and follow-up of existing employments (Primula)
- administration of the personnel directory
- onboarding and offboarding of employees
- monthly payroll checks.
Other administrative tasks within the group's areas of responsibility may occur and will be included in the role as needed by the organization.
Qualifications
Requirements
- education as an HR professional, or other education/experience deemed equivalent by the employer
- several years of experience in personnel administration within the public sector
- very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing
- good knowledge of the Office suite
- experience with personnel administrative systems.
Meritorious
- experience working at a university, college, or another larger government agency
- knowledge of processes and regulations related to the higher education sector.

About the Employment
The position is permanent full-time with a six-month probationary period. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date according to agreement.
