Unit for Coordination and Support, Ministry of Social Affairs

The function plays a central role in the Ministry of Social Affairs and works to analyze the consequences of political proposals from both a budgetary and a distribution perspective, conduct comprehensive socio-economic assessments, provide factual support to political leadership, and participate in international cooperation.

As the group manager for the analysis function, you report to the unit manager for the unit for coordination and support, and in your role as group manager, you will lead approximately eight analysts. The function works directly on behalf of the political leadership and the department's subject areas, and also supports committees within the Ministry of Social Affairs with analytical expertise. The work includes statistical analysis of data, producing impact assessments of policy proposals, and supporting policy development within the department's area of activity, including in EU matters and international operations.

An important part of the function's operations is to maintain and develop data and statistics to support analytical work. The work as a group manager means that you will combine a development responsibility for analytical work with personnel and operational management responsibilities for employees, as well as perform some of your own qualified analytical work. Your Background

We are looking for someone with good knowledge of welfare systems and a strong interest in socio-economic conditions. You have completed academic education in a quantitatively oriented field, such as economics, mathematics, statistics, sociology, or political science. A doctoral degree in these areas is an advantage. You have personal experience in analytical work with quantitative components. You have experience in a leadership role, e.g., as a project manager, assignment leader, or equivalent from similar operations. Experience in a leadership position as a manager in the Government Offices or similar politically governed operations is also an advantage. Experience with microdata and microsimulation as well as policy analysis or policy development is also advantageous.

Your Qualities

As a manager in the Government Offices, you have a holistic view and communicate overarching goals, involve others early, and promote collaboration for unified leadership. You drive the development of operations and work environment, lead change with courage, and encourage learning and initiatives for development while also developing your own competence and leadership. You focus on results by prioritizing, making decisions, and showing trust in employees' competence by supporting and coaching them while addressing problems in a timely manner.

For this role, we are also looking for someone who is creative and analytical with a good ability to transform complex materials into useful decision-making support. You have good communication skills and collaboration abilities. You can create and maintain good relationships both within and outside the function and unit. You focus on results by prioritizing, making decisions, and showing trust in employees' competence by supporting and coaching them while addressing problems in a timely manner. You have a good sense of delivering the right quality under time pressure.

Other Information

The employment is permanent with a fixed-term appointment as group manager.

The employment begins with a six-month probationary period.

Start date as soon as possible.

A security clearance will be conducted before a decision on employment is made.
