Summer Temporary Position as Firefighter in Strängnäs

Strängnäs is a growing municipality in the heart of Mälardalen – combining the closeness of a small town with the opportunities of a big city. The fire service plays an important role in ensuring safety in the municipality. We actively invest in development, collaboration, and new technology to meet future needs.

We have 33 full-time employees (of which eight are in pure daytime positions) and approximately 45 RIB employees (part-time firefighters). Operationally, we have a full-time team in Strängnäs and two RIB teams distributed in Strängnäs and jointly for Mariefred and Åkers Styckebruk. In early 2025, we will also introduce a first responder in Stallarholmen.

The combined preparedness in the municipality is at least 16 people. We collaborate with all our neighboring municipalities and since 2022 primarily within the system management RC Öst, which consists of five fire services and covers 17 municipalities. Within the area, there are four joint operational management functions with constant staffing. Our system management is part of RC Mitt (Greater Stockholm) in the Eastern Svealand Rescue Region (RRÖS), which includes 13 fire services covering 43 municipalities.

As a firefighter during the summer with us, you will work full-time for a limited period between June and August.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The employment begins with an introductory training upon hiring.

In the role of firefighter, you will participate in:

• Emergency response.
• Preventive work.
• External training.
• Station duty.
• Drill activities, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• SMO degree (or completed at least two semesters) or 15 weeks of firefighter training (at MSB's school) or completed Grib training for RIB employment or equivalent. Certificates must be attached to the application.

We consider it an advantage if you have previous employment as a firefighter.

Great emphasis is placed on your personal qualities and suitability. As a person, you are emotionally stable, empathetic, and secure in yourself. You collaborate well with others and relate to others in a sensitive and smooth manner. Furthermore, you need to be calm, stable, and controlled in stressful situations and easily adaptable to changing circumstances. A criminal record extract must be submitted before any employment. During the interview, a treadmill test, job-related tests, and swimming ability tests will also be conducted.
