Strängnäs is a growing municipality in the heart of Mälardalen – with the closeness of a small town and the opportunities of a big city. We have 33 full-time employees (of which eight in pure daytime positions) and approximately 45 RIB employees (part-time firefighters). Operationally, we have a full-time team in Strängnäs and two RIB teams distributed in Strängnäs as well as jointly for Mariefred and Åkers Styckebruk. In early 2025, a first responder will also be introduced in Stallarholmen.

The combined preparedness in the municipality is at least 16 people. We collaborate with all our neighboring municipalities and since 2022 primarily within the system management RC Öst, which consists of five fire services covering 17 municipalities. Within the area, there are four joint operational management functions with constant staffing. Our system management is part of RC Mitt (Greater Stockholm) in the Eastern Svealand Rescue Region (RRÖS) with 13 fire services covering 43 municipalities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a firefighter with us, you will:

• Limit damage to people, property, and the environment during rescue operations.
• Prevent accidents through training and informational efforts.
• Participate in and lead development work, primarily regarding methods and tactics during rescue operations.
• Perform maintenance work to ensure our operational capability.
• Participate in and lead exercises for emergency personnel to strengthen preparedness.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• SMO training or Grib2 with a passing grade or similar, as well as older training that the employer assesses as equivalent.
• Category C driver's license.
• Good physical condition.
• Swimming ability.
• Ability to communicate in both Swedish and English.

We consider it an advantage to have:

• LK2 - RälA training.
• Supervision training.
• Experience from another fire service.
• Experience from the Armed Forces.

Furthermore, you need to be calm, stable, and controlled in stressful situations and have an easy time adapting to changing circumstances. A criminal record extract must be submitted before any employment. During the interview, a treadmill test, work-related tests, and swimming ability tests will also be conducted.
