Here you have great personal responsibility and the opportunity to make a real difference; our projects leave visible marks in the urban environment. We are now looking for three project managers and one design manager who want to help shape the future of Malmö.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for four employees for the Urban Development Department to work on land and construction projects. One project manager for the Exploitation Unit, two project managers for the Mobility Unit, and one design manager for Mobility. The roles have similar requirements and involve work with design and expansion of streets and public spaces, but with different focuses depending on the unit and stage in the process.

All roles involve contributing throughout the process, from feasibility study to completed facility, with an emphasis on the implementation phase, i.e., design and contracts. You work closely with internal and external stakeholders, drive and follow up on quality, time, resources, risks, and finances based on established goals. Common tasks include planning and driving projects, participating in procurements, preparing decision-making documents, collaborating with consultants and contractors, and leading or participating in project groups.

Here you lead projects in both built-up areas and development areas. You drive the process from idea to completed facility and ensure that the detailed plan's intentions for public land are implemented, with a holistic perspective on Malmö's urban development.

2. Project Manager – Mobility Unit

Here you lead projects from idea to completion and primarily work in existing urban environments.

3. Design Manager – Mobility Unit

Here you lead contracted consultants through the design phase, coordinate internal specialists, and ensure that complete tender documents are prepared. You report to the project manager and also participate in the contracting phase. Examples of tasks include leading the design work, participating in procurements, preparing assignment descriptions, coordinating consultants and internal competencies, and ensuring that documents meet the required quality.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a master's degree or engineering degree in civil engineering, water and road engineering, or urban planning, or another education that we assess as equivalent for the position.

In addition to the educational requirements mentioned above, you should have:

  • At least three years of experience working as a project manager and/or design manager and/or construction manager in land and construction projects.
  • Good knowledge of AMA.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting drawings.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Worked according to Malmö city's design guidelines Technical Handbook.
  • Basic knowledge of LOU.
  • Previous experience from municipal operations.

The role involves many internal and external contacts, which means you need to communicate clearly and easily create effective collaborations and networks. You work in a structured manner and have the ability to plan and prioritize while being flexible and solution-oriented when new conditions and situations arise. You have a quality-conscious working method, meet given deadlines, and have a good command of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.

About the Workplace

The mission of the Urban Development Department is to plan and build the city from a holistic perspective on urban development. We develop the city's land and infrastructure by planning and building for a growing Malmö.

At the Exploitation Unit, engineers, exploitation engineers, and landscape architects work together on projects, where we plan, develop, and sell planned and construction-ready land, as well as plan and build public land in municipal and private development areas. The unit works with the entire urban development process from detailed planning to completed inspected street, park, square, or other parts of the urban space.

At the Mobility Unit, engineers, traffic planners, and specialists work together to plan, develop, and build the city with a focus on sustainable mobility. The unit's two Infrastructure sections are responsible for driving investment projects with the goal of ensuring that the city's infrastructure meets the needs of a sustainable city. We work both on larger projects where we handle the entire street space from facade to facade and with simpler quick measures.

The Property and Street Office is a broad and varied organization with many professional roles and assignments. To succeed together, the administration works with Developing Employee Engagement, which is a permanent initiative to maintain a common direction and foundation for collaboration, responsibility, and development - regardless of role or function. In this work, all employees contribute by sharing their knowledge, experiences, and actively working for good collaborations within the administration and with external parties. On behalf of the technical committee, the Property and Street Office owns, develops, and manages the city's land. Through an efficient and modern organization, we enable a good urban life for the residents of Malmö and the city's business community.

The operations of Malmö city are organized into 14 administrations. Our common mission is to create welfare and sustainable social development. Together with the residents of Malmö, we are developing an even better city to live, work, and be in; differences, life experiences, and talents make Malmö a smart city in the heart of Europe.
