About our job opening

As a specialist physician/senior physician in our neonatal department, you will play a central role in our care flow within neonatology, where you will work alongside other doctors and staff in a collaborative team, responsible for children admitted to us as well as those in maternity and delivery.

Your work will include mentoring ST doctors and medical students, as well as training other staff. We work closely and flexibly within our medical group. We create our own schedules, which often allows for smooth solutions that fit with life outside of work.

Our area of operation (VO) for women and children has a strong focus on research and development and is currently preparing an application to become a university hospital unit. If you are interested, there are good prospects for conducting research alongside clinical duties. Our newly established and modern Knowledge Center offers great opportunities to train clinical skills for both professionals and teams.

About us

The neonatal department at SÄS Borås, with over 3,000 deliveries per year, is one of four departments in the region, where Drottning Silvias Children's Hospital, just 60 km away, provides highly specialized care for children from week 22+0, while we care for children from week 28+0. The four hospitals have daily meetings and collaborate on bed availability, with a central transport organization based in Gothenburg handling all transport of children between hospitals.

The department provides care around the clock, and in mid-January, we will move into entirely new facilities for our modern integrated maternity/neo department to further strengthen the co-care between children and parents. Home healthcare is also part of our operations, run by experienced nurses and pediatric nurses. We have a neonatal follow-up clinic together with our skilled physiotherapists, and we often get to know the families we meet there well. We work in teams in the department and have close collaboration with paramedicine, physiotherapists, and other specialists. The size of our operation provides good opportunities to cultivate and maintain neonatal intensive care skills with many challenging cases, but also the space to calmly conduct training, research, and have fun together.

You will be on-call from home, and in the primary on-call line, there are ST or specialists in pediatrics. Anesthesia has primary and secondary on-call at the hospital. We regularly conduct CEPS training (full-scale simulation in the care of newborns) with both our own staff and staff from the women's clinic and anesthesia, which lays the groundwork for good preparedness even during on-call hours.

Your profile

You who are applying are a licensed physician with a specialist certificate in neonatology. You possess the practical skills expected of a neonatologist. You have a command of the Swedish language at a corresponding level of C1. We value your ability to collaborate with others and your skill in communicating and building good relationships. Being able to understand others' perspectives and situations is fundamental to the work, both regarding patients, relatives, and colleagues. The work involves a fast pace and sudden changes, so we see that you thrive in such situations and that you are a natural problem-solver. The ability to prioritize and delineate is important for the work to function well. Personal suitability is highly valued.
