Hello! We welcome you as a newly graduated nurse to become part of our team on ward 3 at Kungälv Hospital.

We are a dedicated team that focuses on the patient and is keen to support each other. For you as a newly graduated nurse, a clinical foundation year is included during the first year of your permanent employment.

We are the orthopedic and surgical department at Kungälv Hospital, and you can find us in our beautiful facilities on the second floor.

With us, you will be part of a dedicated team of colleagues who work closely with their two managers.

Five years ago, we moved into one of Sweden's most modern hospital ward buildings. The department has 28 beds divided into four teams with seven patients in each team, where all patients have their own room including a bathroom. The environment is fresh and easy to work in. The department focuses on broad orthopedic and surgical care, both acute and planned. We care for patients with acute conditions following trauma, accidents, and illness. Patients with infections and pain issues are also cared for in the department. From Monday to Friday, one of our teams is dedicated to elective orthopedic patients who have received new shoulder, knee, or hip prostheses.

Our goal is to continuously develop and improve our operations and to always strive to become even better when it comes to patient safety, patient satisfaction, and work environment.

We are keen to maintain a good working climate, a safe environment, and close collaboration during both good and less good days. Your future colleagues are a wonderful group who are caring towards patients, relatives, and each other, and together we make the department a place where everyone can thrive.

Job Responsibilities

As a nurse with us, you will have the opportunity to work broadly within both orthopedics and surgery - and you will be an important part of our change and improvement work. You will work closely with nursing assistants, doctors, paramedics, and medical secretaries on a daily basis.

With us, you will work days, evenings, and weekends with competent and wonderful colleagues. There is a mentor nurse available to support you in your work.

Our goal is for all new hires to integrate into the work as smoothly as possible, which is why you will receive an individually tailored introduction. In our department, we have a mentor nurse with extensive experience from the operation who will guide and support new employees through the introduction and will also be available afterwards for follow-up and to provide support and advice.

For those who will undergo a clinical foundation year, this includes lectures, process-oriented nursing guidance, and practical training of your profession at the Simulation Center. It also includes shadowing in other departments, so you can gain a broader understanding of the hospital where you work. This is an initiative aimed at giving you the opportunity to further develop in your profession and build your professional identity.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse and have an interest in working within orthopedic and surgical care.

For you, good collaboration skills, joy in working in a team, and a good attitude towards both patients and colleagues are a given. Working in a hospital ward is teamwork, and we therefore place great emphasis on personal suitability.

It is also important that you can work independently. You enjoy challenges, have the ability to make quick decisions, and can handle acute situations in a calm and methodical manner.
