Description

The Economic Assistance and Adult Unit is part of the Social Services (IFO) in Älvkarleby Municipality.

Here, we are responsible for the social services' authority exercise in economic assistance, harmful use and dependence, as well as violence in close relationships. The unit consists of four social workers in economic assistance and two in adult matters, led by a unit manager.

We are in a development process related to interventions for harmful use and dependence according to the new Social Services Act. The position is therefore announced as a temporary position, with the possibility of extension depending on future decisions.

Competence development is an important part of our quality work. You will receive continuous support from the unit manager, individual support as needed, and external group supervision. As a new employee, you will receive a clear introduction to quickly feel secure in both the assignment and the operations.

We have flexible working hours with working hours from 07:30 to 16:15 and the possibility of some work from home.

Our premises are centrally located in Skutskär, close to restaurants, shops, and public transport. The train station is about a seven-minute walk away, and the bus is just a minute away, making it easy to get to and from work.

Job Responsibilities

As a social worker in the adult unit, you will be responsible for handling cases related to harmful use and dependence as well as violence in close relationships. The work includes investigation, assessment, and follow-up from an authority perspective. You will meet people in need of support, where a professional approach and the ability to build trust are central. The work also includes motivational and change-oriented conversations as well as urgent assessments when the situation requires it.

You are responsible for documentation according to applicable legislation and routines to ensure a legally secure handling. The assignment is carried out in close collaboration with internal and external partners, such as health care, outpatient care, and other parts of social services. This is to ensure coordinated and qualitative support for the individual. You will also participate in the unit's development work, where your ideas and experiences contribute to strengthening and developing the operations.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or another relevant higher education and documented experience of authority exercise in harmful use and dependence as well as violence in close relationships. You have good knowledge of interventions, treatment chains, collaboration structures, and relevant legislation. We also want you to have good knowledge of the new Social Services Act and its focus on preventive and holistic work. You express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and have a strong focus on quality and legal security. Experience with the operational system Treserva is an advantage.

To succeed in the assignment, you need to be confident in your role as an authority practitioner, stable, and have a good ability to prioritize and manage varying tasks in a professional and structured manner. You work independently but are also collaborative and have the courage to stand behind your professional assessments.

You have a good analytical ability and can make well-founded assessments even in complex and pressured situations. You communicate clearly and professionally with both clients and partners and easily build trusting relationships.

You can handle difficult conversations and have a respectful and professional approach. You have a genuine interest in working with people and a desire to contribute to positive change for individuals in vulnerable life situations.

Valid ID and Right to Work in Sweden

To work in Älvkarleby Municipality, you need to be able to present a valid ID where your citizenship is indicated. In some cases, you may also need to show a document that proves you have the right to work in Sweden. If you are offered employment, you need to be able to show one of the following:
