JOB DESCRIPTION

As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with clients. The tasks at the prison/remand center are varied: care, monitoring, searching, and security work are mixed with release planning and conversation/motivation work. Work at the remand center is often routine-oriented and focused on care and security tasks. Clients may be held in remand for long periods without being able to meet anyone other than their lawyer and the staff at the remand center, which places special demands on you as a correctional officer.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good teamwork skills and be clear in your communication. You should be able to act physically when required.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Completed upper secondary education or other training combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
• Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form
• Good computer skills

It is an advantage if you have:

• Work experience from corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, or health and care work
• Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management
• Relevant language skills
• Driver's license (B)
