Electrician at the Naval Base

About the Department

The Boat Maintenance Department is growing to increase the Navy's ability for maintenance and technical support. The department is part of the Marine Workshops and is being built as a flexible team where everyone is involved in the entire maintenance commitment.

Main Responsibilities

As an electrician, you will perform preventive and corrective maintenance as well as repairs on certain Navy boats and equipment. The tasks are very varied and are performed both in the workshop and on board vessels. You will work independently and in teams. The work includes document management and reading technical drawings.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • 2- or 3-year high school with a technical/electrical focus or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way that the employer assesses as equivalent
  • Several years of documented experience in electrical work, operations, and maintenance
  • Good computer skills
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form
  • Manual B driver's license

As a person, you have a positive attitude, are driven, and have a strong focus on safety. For you, it is natural to carry out work across the entire spectrum, not just what you are specifically trained for, and to document your own completed work. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Employment type: Permanent. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those who are not employed by the authority.

Start date according to agreement.

Medical examination with a satisfactory result regarding work with thermosetting plastics is required. Business trips may occur within the framework of the tasks.

The Naval Base's overarching task is to support the naval units with logistics such as transportation, basing, surveillance, and medical care, both at home and abroad. The Naval Base has its headquarters in Karlskrona but operates where there is a need, for example in Berga/Muskö, south of Stockholm, and in Gothenburg. Other major tasks for the Naval Base include monitoring Sweden's 2700 km long coastline with territorial waters.
