Recruitment of Communication Leaders to the Swedish Armed Forces

The Swedish Armed Forces is in an expansion phase and on a comprehensive growth journey. Here you have the opportunity to work in an engaged and cohesive team where you can develop while contributing to the organization's development journey. As an employee with us, you will become an important part of Sweden's defense.

About the Unit

161st Combat Control and Air Surveillance Battalion operates around the clock, year-round. This is to monitor and defend Swedish airspace by producing and distributing authorized air status, directing air combat forces, and coordinating air combat units. The battalion also has the mobile capability to establish and regroup radio and radar stations with its own resources.

The 161st Combat Battalion is looking for someone who wants to contribute to Sweden's air defense, is stimulated by varying tasks, and enjoys taking responsibility. If you are also passionate about providing the best possible support to those who lead our air combat forces, you may be the one we are looking for!

Main Responsibilities

As a Communication Leader, you will remotely control radio and tactical data links across the country to enable the command of our flying units. You will also be responsible for ensuring that communication functions both internally and externally from and to the command center so that we can safely lead aircraft. You are also responsible for ensuring that the system meets flight safety requirements, which means you must quickly provide the air command with information and assess whether it is safe to continue directing flights from the facility. You will participate in the daily live operations of the air combat forces, as well as national and international exercises.

In addition to your main task as a Communication Leader, you will also have the opportunity to participate in projects for the development of our function and our command systems that the Swedish Armed Forces and the defense industry develop together. In your daily work, you will serve in one of the country's command centers. The majority of the position will be carried out during military flight exercise periods, which largely means daytime on weekdays. Evenings and holidays may also occur within the framework of national live operations.

Within the Swedish Armed Forces, we always work as a team. Our organization is based on cooperation, adaptability, and a shared responsibility for the whole. This means that we are all prepared to support each other, sometimes even outside our own areas of expertise and comfort zones. Therefore, as an employee, you may sometimes face new types of tasks. This is a natural part of working in the Swedish Armed Forces that serves both the authority and the employee's development well, and you will never be given a task that you do not have the resources to handle.
