Operators for the SRPAS Group at 5th Amphibious Battalion

At Älvsborg Amphibious Regiment in Gothenburg, we operate where land meets sea and form an important link between the army and naval forces.

The 5th Amphibious Battalion is growing and developing. We need more competent soldiers to continue developing the unit for its important task: to defend Sweden's many coastal archipelago areas and protect our routes into Scandinavia's largest port in order to safeguard Sweden's strategically important flows. We are now looking for operators for our SRPAS group.

The Position Offers

The 5th Amphibious Battalion is for you who want to be part of the pride and strength of the west coast. We are looking for someone with experience of the SRPAS(SUAV)05 system.

About the Unit

  • The amphibious battalion in Gothenburg is a highly mobile unit with fast combat boats. The battalion's main task is combat in archipelago and coastal areas. The 5th amphibious battalion is a development unit with significant growth in personnel, equipment, and capabilities. Right now, the unit is establishing an SRPAS 05 capability on the west coast.

The main system of the SRPAS group is UAV 05c Korpen. The system primarily provides reconnaissance capability in depth when the task is time-critical, and the group can offer collection over large areas in multiple directions. The group is organized directly under the battalion commander and consists of two leaders and six to eight soldiers. In addition to reconnaissance, the system also has the capability to direct indirect fire. The group is an important tool for higher command in obtaining good decision-making basis in a timely manner.

About the Position

As a SRPAS operator, you will operate in pairs or in a group. Either individually or subordinate to another unit. The position is similar to a reconnaissance role but with the significant difference that the operational area moves in the airspace.

In your daily work, in addition to exercises and aviation-related competency-enhancing training, you will also undergo other relevant training such as first aid, vehicle training, etc. The position is located at Älvsborg Amphibious Regiment in Gothenburg. However, you may need to participate in courses or exercises at other locations.

All positions are OR 1-5, but the position only involves operator duties. Leadership positions are held by specialist officers.

Qualifications

  • Completed and approved military service, GMU, or other military basic training at the time of employment.
  • Approved high school diploma.
  • Approved security clearance.
  • Swimming ability of 400 m.
  • Rescue skills: 25 m swimming, 3 m diving, 25 m towing a dummy.
  • Physical status corresponding to FM FysS 2/3 depending on position.
  • Approved result from Special Selection.
  • 1.0 with vision correction (glasses, lenses, surgery).
  • Normal color vision.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Military service/basic training with approved results at Amf 4 or Amf 1.
  • BE driver's license.
  • Driver's license for light all-terrain vehicle or equivalent.
  • Trained operator UAV05C.
  • Ranger/reconnaissance training.
  • Group leader training.
  • CLS training.
  • Knowledge of HF communication (e.g., ra1512).
  • Boat training.
  • Commander/driver of combat boat 90.

Personal Qualities

Many of the battalion's tasks are very demanding, which is why specific requirements are placed on our soldiers both physically and mentally. You are stress-resistant, self-driven, flexible, humble, and always do your best to solve the task in front of you. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Applicants who have not completed military service in 2023-2024 at Amf 4 or Amf 1 may be called for job interviews and physical tests on-site at Älvsborg Amphibious Regiment.

Recruitment Process

If you are deemed suitable, you will be called for tests at Special Selection at HRC in Stockholm. Tests are conducted continuously. You will be responsible for your own travel and accommodation. If you are employed by the Armed Forces, please speak to your supervisor regarding travel compensation.

Upon successful results, you will be called for an interview in the period of the fourth quarter of 2025 – first quarter of 2026. You must have a certificate for a passed vision test for the interview.

If you are deemed suitable after the professional interview, you may be offered a position with the SRPAS group at the 5th Amphibious Battalion starting in spring 2026 or by agreement.
