Residents of Jämtland County in need of specialist psychiatry receive their treatment in outpatient or inpatient care within the psychiatry area at Östersund Hospital. The staff in the units have a significant responsibility to develop and improve care in collaboration with the area's management. In total, there are about 270 employees in the area.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The trainee program offers you a unique opportunity to be introduced to patient work primarily within psychiatric inpatient care. By following patients' paths and care flows within different units, you gain valuable practical experience and a large network within the entire psychiatry field.

You will participate in patient meetings concerning various psychiatric conditions and diseases in contact and collaboration with several different professional groups and specialist teams, which provides a good understanding of psychiatric care. As a trainee employee, you will be prioritized in offers for internal training and follow a structured program with supervision and varied tasks.

This is what the trainee program entails:

• You will receive a permanent position in psychiatry.
• You will have an individually tailored introduction to the profession as a nurse in psychiatry.
• You will have a personal mentor throughout the year.
• Regular supervision meetings.
• You will work independently with patients with support from experienced nurses within the organization.
• You will have access to lectures and e-learning about psychiatric diagnoses and treatment methods.
• If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will participate in the Region's Clinical Foundation Year concurrently during the year.

In the job as a nurse in psychiatry, I get to follow a patient from a holistic perspective rather than just as a short-term care intervention. I develop from independent work with significant personal responsibility and the authority to coordinate the patient's care.
