Personal Assistant Wanted for Astrid

We are looking for an engaged future personal assistant who sees opportunities instead of problems and wants to work with us and our client Astrid. Are you retired and looking for a rewarding part-time job as an assistant? This could be the right fit for you. The shifts can be about 4-8 hours/day, both morning and afternoon. No late evenings or nights.

Astrid is a happy and social 6-year-old girl who needs a lot of support, help, and training for her development. Astrid was born with a rare gene mutation that makes her development delayed. She needs help with feeding; she eats pureed food by mouth but also receives some mixed food through her stomach button. As her assistant, you will also help her with hygiene, motor skills, and communication training, play, and activities in a suitably challenging way.

You must have a driver's license and be comfortable taking Astrid on outings to playgrounds. You should be able to take your own initiative and engage in her learning.

As Astrid's assistant, you will have a very important role and become a significant person in her and her family's daily life. She enjoys music, dancing, and ball games, watching animals, being in playgrounds, and interacting with other people, both children and adults. She likes to go down slides and swing; she walks independently (but needs constant supervision due to poorer balance and motor skills in general). In verbal communication, she says a few words but has many sounds that mean different things, and she uses a lot of TAKK (sign language support) and some picture support. Learning TAKK and being part of her ongoing development is therefore important!

Assistant's Role and Experience

Astrid has a high energy level, and you need to be able to keep up with her activity level while also helping her to calm down and recover. Most shifts take place at home and nearby, in playgrounds, or during walks. There will also be shorter outings on days off.

Pedagogical education and experience working with children are positive. However, the most important thing is that the chemistry is right – that you find a bond and that you are interested and willing to learn everything about Astrid and her needs. You need to be a calm and secure person. Responsible, patient, and thorough. Good communication with parents and us as the assistance company is a given.

Desirable Experience

• Experience with sign language communication.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
• Swedish in speech and writing is a requirement.
• Driver's license is a requirement.

Working Hours/ Employment Rate

• Hourly employment as needed.
• Shifts 4-8 hours/day, morning and afternoon.
