Specialist Physician at the Defence Medicine Centre

Do you want to be part of our team working for a stronger defense of Sweden? The Swedish Armed Forces is in an expansion phase and is now looking for a specialist physician at the Defence Medicine Centre (FömedC).

The Defence Medicine Centre (FömedC) in Gothenburg is the Swedish Armed Forces' competence center for defense medicine. It also houses the Armed Forces' Combat School for Defense Medicine (FSS) – a shared resource that trains and exercises personnel in defense medicine underwater, on land, in the air, and at sea.

FSS consists of three departments:

• Education Department – responsible for courses, training, and quality assurance of defense medical training across the country.
• Exercise Department – plans, conducts, and evaluates training and exercises.
• Simulation and Method Department – develops simulation environments and pedagogical methods for defense medicine.

The position of specialist physician is located in the Education Department.

Main Responsibilities

As a specialist physician, you will be a key person in our educational activities. You will:

• Teach both practically and theoretically – from basic to advanced levels.
• Participate in planning, implementation, and quality assurance of defense medical training packages.
• Work as an instructor during exercises and training.
• Contribute to the development of medical training concepts.

The work primarily takes place in Sweden, but international missions may occur.

The Swedish Armed Forces is growing, and the tasks may evolve over time.

Qualifications (Requirements)

• Licensed physician with current specialist training.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in the specialty.
• Documented experience in teaching.
• Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
• Driving license B.

Meritorious

• Military basic training (e.g., conscription, GMU, GSU).
• Training such as PHTLS, DSTC, ATLS, ASSET, TCCC, or equivalent.
• Experience in prehospital work and/or disaster medicine.
• Previous military service abroad.
• Instructor experience in trauma and emergency care.

Other Information

Employment type: Permanent. A six-month probationary period applies.
Employment rate: Full-time. Travel both nationally and internationally may occur as well as working evenings and weekends.

Start date: By agreement.
Salary: Individual salary setting.
The employment entails a military placement at FSS.
