At the National Board of Forensic Medicine, you have the opportunity to practice your profession while working with your colleagues to provide answers in the justice chain and create a legally secure society.

We are now looking for forensic assistants for the forensic medicine unit located in Solna, Stockholm. The unit consists of about 40 people who together carry out forensic autopsies and issue forensic certificates.

Your mission

As a forensic assistant (autopsy technician), you will primarily work practically to prepare and assist in forensic autopsies, prepare the deceased, handle samples, and participate in the unit's morgue operations. As part of your mission, you may also have contact with external actors such as the police and funeral contractors.

Qualifications:

• At least post-secondary education that the employer deems relevant for the position
• Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form

Meritorious

• Experience handling the deceased, preferably from autopsy operations, healthcare, or emergency services
• Good knowledge of anatomy, for example from studies in a medical program or equivalent education

Personal qualities

The nature of the work requires a high level of quality awareness and precision in all tasks, as well as good teamwork skills since autopsy operations are often carried out in close collaboration with other colleagues. You are expected to be a calm and stable person, responsive to both the needs of the organization and your colleagues, and contribute to a good working atmosphere.

The work is psychologically challenging as death investigations usually involve difficult events. To handle the stresses of the job, both high integrity and personal maturity are required. The work is physically demanding as it involves both fine motor skills and physically heavy tasks, which requires good physical condition.

The employment

The employment is a fixed-term full-time position for the summer of 2025, located at the forensic medicine unit in Stockholm. Start date according to agreement. The National Board of Forensic Medicine applies individual salary setting.

We apply a competency-based recruitment process, and there may be psychological tests, knowledge tests, or work samples. In some of our recruitments, a background check is conducted.

Upon employment at the National Board of Forensic Medicine, there is an obligation to be placed in a war position.
