Explainer at the Technical Museum

Now you have the chance to become part of the Technical Museum's public team as an Explainer! We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and responsible person who wants to spread joy and knowledge about STEAM to our visitors through inspiring activities and experiments.

About the Technical Museum

The Technical Museum is Sweden's largest technical museum and a science center where curiosity and innovation are at the center. With over 388,000 visitors in 2019, many of whom are children and young people, we strive to create a place where generations meet to explore the role of technology in our world – from historical successes to future possibilities.

What does an Explainer do?

As an Explainer, you are one of our key persons in the public team. You are responsible for creating engaging experiences that spark interest and understanding of technology and science. You do this through guided tours, workshops, and interactions with our visitors. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to and develop the museum's evening and weekend activities.

Your tasks

- Collaborate with schools to tailor tours and workshops to their needs.

- Conduct guided tours and workshops for the museum's various visitor groups.

- Interact with visitors to provide an exciting and informative experience.

- Actively participate in the museum's events and activities to promote learning and engagement.

- Actively participate in the daily operations and ensure that the exhibition areas maintain a high quality.

- Continuously improve and adjust activities for the museum's evening and weekend explainers.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who is structured, creative, and passionate about inspiring others. You have good communication skills and enjoy working in a dynamic environment where no day is the same.

Qualifications and characteristics:

- An interest in sharing knowledge in STEAM areas.

- Excellent communication skills and experience interacting with different target groups.

- Experience in guiding, pedagogy, or work within museums, culture, and education sectors is an advantage.

- Self-leadership and a positive attitude that inspires both visitors and colleagues.

About the position

Employment type: Part-time, 20% (weekends), with the possibility of extra work on weekdays, evenings, and holidays.

Probationary period: 6 months
