About the Position

We are now seeking a professor in energy systems for the Department of Building Technology, Energy Systems, and Environmental Science.

The position is a permanent employment with a scope of 50%.

Job Responsibilities

The main job responsibilities include:

  • Research and development: Participation in and leadership of research projects in the field of industrial energy systems, with a particular focus on energy efficiency, control measures, and technical tools for sustainable solutions. The work also includes contributing to the development of the research environment through interdisciplinary collaborations.
  • Applications for research funding: Active participation in seeking external research funding for projects and doctoral schools in collaboration with other universities, research institutes, and industry, both nationally and internationally.
  • Education and supervision: Supervision of doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers, particularly within the doctoral education in energy systems. The work also includes contributing to the development of educational programs and courses, including the integration of research into teaching.
  • Collaboration: The work includes building and strengthening relationships with external actors, such as companies, the public sector, and other universities, to contribute to societal development and the application of research results.
  • Subject development: The work includes being responsible for strategically developing the subject area of energy systems at Högskolan i Gävle, with the goal of positioning the university as a leading actor in the field.

The position is located at the campus in Gävle and includes close collaboration with other researchers, students, and external partners.

Qualifications

To be eligible for appointment as a professor, you must have demonstrated both scientific and pedagogical skills (HF 4 chap. 3 §). To be appointed as a professor, you must, based on the following assessment criteria, have:

  • PhD in energy systems or a related field, as well as docent qualification.
  • At least 10 years of experience in university teaching and supervision, with documented experience in course development in energy and sustainability.
  • Documented experience in research within industrial energy systems, particularly regarding energy efficiency and control measures.
  • Extensive experience in research projects funded by national and international programs, where EU-funded projects, Vinnova, KKS, and doctoral schools are particularly meritorious.
  • Documented pedagogical skills, including primary supervision of doctoral students.
  • Extensive publication history with strong academic merits demonstrating influence in research areas such as energy, energy systems, and industrial energy efficiency.
  • Completed higher education pedagogical training equivalent to at least 10 weeks of full-time studies or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge.

The applicant should, considering the content and tasks of the position, have good collaboration skills, take initiative, be good at creating contacts and maintaining relationships, and be able to express themselves well in both spoken and written Swedish and English.

Conditions

The employment is permanent with a scope of 50%. A probationary period may apply. Start date by agreement.
