Service-oriented Telecommunication Technician
We are looking for someone who wants to be part of our team working with the fixed telecommunications infrastructure of the Gothenburg garrison. The tasks mainly involve independently performing preventive and corrective maintenance as well as commissioning of equipment in the Armed Forces' telecommunications network, FTN. The work also includes collaborating with colleagues within our unit and supporting users from other units with telecommunication expertise. FTN currently consists of radio links, multiplex equipment, fiber terminals, Cisco products (routers, switches), and telephone exchanges.
Main Responsibilities
- Splicing and measuring copper and optical cables
- Maintenance of the garrison's telephone exchanges
- Maintenance and commissioning of fixed telecommunications infrastructure
The work is varied and is partly performed from the Gothenburg garrison with associated shooting ranges and facilities, as well as work on external facilities, mainly within the military region west but also in other locations across the country. The position also includes supporting colleagues within the department. Work with telecommunication installations in coastal areas and on board ships occurs. Work on board ships is included in the position, therefore a medical examination for seafaring personnel is required before employment can be offered.
About the Organization
FMTIS has five units that maintain the Armed Forces' command systems within IT and telecommunications, with the Implementation Unit West being one of them. The units work with the maintenance of the Armed Forces' telecommunications network, radio, sensor, surveillance, and field systems, as well as with installation, operation, and maintenance of a variety of IT systems. At the implementation department, GA Gothenburg, we work in all these areas.

Qualifications
- 3-year high school education with a focus on IT/TELE/ELECTRICAL or equivalent knowledge that can be assessed as equivalent
- Good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
- Knowledge of transmission technology and telecommunication technology
- Driving license B (Manual transmission)
- Swim proficiency
Meritorious
- Previous service in the Armed Forces
- Experience in splicing and measuring techniques for copper and optical cables
- Military basic training
- Professional experience in telecommunications
- Knowledge of HDSL technology

Other
Civil permanent employment starting with a six-month probationary period. Business trips will occur at locations other than the regular workplace.
During the period, medical checks and training will be conducted for seafaring personnel. These must be approved within the probationary period and are a requirement for the position to transition into a permanent employment. More information about this will be provided during a potential job interview.
