Are you looking for new challenges in psychiatric inpatient care?

Do you want to be part of an organization that makes a difference for patients with severe self-harming behavior? Then we think you should apply for this position!

About us

Ward 131, part of Psychiatry Northwest, is a general psychiatric care unit located at Danderyd Hospital.

The ward offers treatment and care for patients aged 18-65 who primarily suffer from depression, anxiety, personality disorders, suicidal issues, self-harming behavior, eating disorders, and crisis reactions. The ward has a total of 15 beds, including one place for voluntary admission and four places within the framework of national highly specialized care (NHV) for difficult-to-treat self-harming behavior.

National Highly Specialized Care

Since autumn 2023, Psychiatry Northwest has been providing NHV for difficult-to-treat self-harming behavior for adults. The unit has a national assignment, meaning that patients come from all over Sweden via referral. Patients are offered individualized treatment where the entire care process is based on dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). All admissions are planned, and the treatment includes both intensive outpatient care and inpatient care. During the day, patients have day care/outpatient care currently taking place at Karolinska Hospital, where they travel together with staff. A completely new unit where both inpatient and day care are housed in the same premises is under construction.

Job Responsibilities

As a nurse with us, you will work in a team alongside nursing assistants, doctors, psychologists, and paramedical staff. Together with the nursing assistants, you will be the closest to the patient. You are expected to lead the nursing work, which means assessing nursing needs, planning, and performing – primarily psychiatric – but also somatic nursing measures. The work is varied, but a typical day almost always includes support conversations, medication management, contact and coordination with care neighbors and relatives, among other things. You will also be involved in the DBT-based treatment work, where you will coach patients to use newly acquired skills based on their own goals and in accordance with the care plan. We use Take Care as our documentation system.

Qualifications

You who are applying should be a licensed nurse. It is desirable that you have previous experience in psychiatric nursing within inpatient care or another setting where you have encountered individuals with psychiatric issues. We welcome both experienced nurses and newly graduated ones. The most important thing is that you have a genuine interest in and curiosity about psychiatric care. Specialist training in psychiatry and/or experience with DBT is considered an advantage but is not a requirement.

Personal Qualities

We see that you as a person have a genuine interest and commitment to the ward's target group and can remain calm in emotionally stressful situations. You are secure, stable, and have good collaboration skills. Furthermore, we are looking for someone who is flexible in how you prioritize, plan, and perform your tasks - to manage a varied work pace and meet our patients' varying needs. You are clear in your leadership role and delegate tasks in a clear and fair manner, and see improvement work as a natural part of your professional role.

What we can offer you

  • A permanent full-time position (38:15 hours/week), with shifts during the day, evening, and 2 out of 5 weekends
  • Individually tailored introduction
  • Eight days of intensive DBT training and continued professional development as well as ongoing supervision
  • Functional role for specialist nurses with a salary supplement of 2500 SEK/month
  • Flexible hours, wellness hour, and wellness allowance of 5000 SEK/year
  • Retention bonus = after one year of employment, an annual time bank of 40 hours will be added, which can be taken as leave, money, or extra pension contributions
