Something special about Avesta!
Here you will find not only Dala horses and rushing streams. There is also will and courage, proactivity, and faith in the future. It is the strength of the people that makes Avesta unique. Together we build the future of Avesta – do you want to join us?
The Social Services Administration in Avesta operates under the principle that all people we meet have the same value and are unique. Within social services, there is IFO with the adult and open care unit, the children and youth unit, and the financial support unit.
We are now introducing two brand new positions in the Children and Youth unit; social workers specializing in working with children and young people who have developed or are at risk of developing norm-breaking behavior. We are looking for you who, together with our partners, want to actively work to make Avesta a safe and secure place to grow up!
There is a lot happening with us, especially due to new legislation in social services that will come into effect from 2025, which will require adjustments to meet the needs of the residents of Avesta. In 2024, we have, among other things, introduced field social workers, which means that we regularly work in the field in close collaboration with the police and our internal partners. We want to be where we are needed most to detect and support children and young people who are not doing well early on. We have also started a crime prevention initiative in the form of SSPF (collaboration between School, Social Services, Police, and Recreation), which will be an important part of our work to prevent and deter young people from falling into crime, being recruited into criminal gangs, and/or starting substance abuse.
We are committed to working more preventively and to using evidence-based practices to support and help our children and youth in the most effective way.
Our unit is growing and consists of 25 employees divided into different groups based on handling within social child and youth care as well as foster homes and family law. The unit has two team leaders and one unit manager.
We actively work to create a good and sustainable work environment where we value employee development and competence. We work in a knowledge-based everyday life where you have the opportunity to actively engage with your colleagues' expertise through various learning groups within the unit. We currently have a management team that is even closer and more accessible to our employees. Work load measurements are conducted regularly with both the manager and team leaders.
Together, we are now moving forward and helping to create a social service that is modern, accessible, and characterized by high quality. We work with freedom under responsibility and can manage our workday in various ways. You will also receive external supervision.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
In 2024, we will launch SSPF. As an investigative and follow-up social worker focusing on children and young people with norm-breaking behavior, you will work closely with the police, schools, open care, field assistants, and other partners. You will be based in the children and youth group with other investigative social workers but will also belong to several work teams. As this work is under development, you will contribute your experience with the target group and provide inspiration to create our approach to meeting and working with young people with norm-breaking behavior.
Your role includes regularly being out in the field to create proximity to the operations and target group. You are expected to disseminate knowledge and lead in various collaboration forums, both about the target group and about social services' work in general. The work also involves structured work with risk and safety assessments to ensure that children and young people receive the right interventions at the right time.
The position is scheduled during the day, but evening work occurs regularly.
QUALIFICATIONS
You are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people and families. You believe in every individual's potential for change and see the family network as a positive asset. To fit into the role, we think you enjoy following young people and their close relatives through the treatment process. We want you to highly value children's participation and rights.
You should have a degree in social work or meet the eligibility requirements with another relevant education of at least 180 higher education credits, including courses in social law, administrative law, psychology, and social work. The difficulty level of your social work studies should also have increased progressively. Experience in handling social child and youth care is a requirement.
The position includes leading and holding various presentations in different forums, which requires you to be comfortable with this.
You independently drive your work forward, come up with ideas, and initiate activities based on the needs that arise. You have a relationship-building ability. You inspire great trust in others, are calm, stable, and can motivate and be effective even in challenging situations. Since the position may involve adjustments in your day based on incoming reports and safety assessments, it is particularly important that you are flexible and have the ability to adapt to new assignments.
Documentation and communication are a significant part of our work, and therefore you need to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish. Training in BBIC, Signs of Safety, and assessment methods such as ESTER or Savry is meritorious.
A driving license (B) is a requirement.
Since you will be working with children and young people, you must provide a police certificate if you are selected for the position.
OTHER
Interviews may be conducted on an ongoing basis during the application period.
We at Avesta Municipality care about our employees. As an employee of Avesta Municipality, you have the opportunity to use both wellness time and a wellness allowance, free access to the staff gym, up to 30 free swims in any of the municipality's swimming facilities each year, and several other free wellness activities organized by the municipality continuously.
