Youth Assistant for Support Residence for Youths 16-20 Years

Job Description

The support residence receives girls and boys according to the Social Services Act aged 16-20 with psychosocial problems. The youths have been granted the intervention by social services based on the fact that their family/network cannot provide the support the youth needs. The intervention may also be associated with the youth's own difficulties where there is a need for professional support.

The youth assistants work based on contact responsibility in collaboration with the responsible case officer. The work also includes contact with the youth's network, school, and other relevant actors around the youth. The youths live in their own apartments, and the staff operate from a shared office.

The daily support is based on an individually established implementation plan according to the authority's care plan. The goal is for the placed youths to receive support and help based on individual needs to eventually become fully independent. With support from the support residence's coordinator, the youth assistant plans the support based on the mission's goals together with the youth. Regular treatment conferences and supervision support professional social work.

Qualifications

For the role, the following is required:

• University education in behavioral science, social work, pedagogy, or at least 2 years of post-secondary education with a focus as above. Education that the employer considers equivalent may be considered.
• Experience in psychosocial work with youths
• Driver's license B

Personal qualities that will be considered are personal maturity, stability, flexibility, and ability to collaborate. Working as a youth assistant requires a great ability and interest in building relationships with the placed youths. This is to create a safe and motivating environment to enable their own resources for change. The position requires the ability to take a large personal responsibility for the tasks to be performed.

Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Desirable qualifications:

• Experience in psychosocial treatment work
• Experience in the Signs of Safety approach
• Knowledge of systemic theory in social work

Employment Conditions

The position is permanent with a planned start on March 1, 2025. Independent work occurs. The working hours are scheduled on weekdays and weekends with the opportunity to influence your schedule in collaboration with colleagues.
