Team Leader for the Authority Unit for Children and Youth
There is something special about Avesta!
Here you will find not only Dala horses and rushing streams. There is also will and courage, proactivity and faith in the future. It is the strength of the people that makes Avesta unique. Together we are building the future of Avesta; do you want to be part of it?
The Social Services Administration operates on the principle that all people we meet have the same value and are unique. Within social services, there is IFO with adult, child, and youth services as well as financial support. We work in various ways to develop the investigation and follow-up work concerning children, families, youth, and adults.
We are now looking for a team leader for the Authority Unit for Children and Youth.
There is a lot happening with us, especially with the upcoming new legislation in social services that will come into effect in 2025, which will require adjustments to meet the needs of the residents of Avesta. Together we are now moving forward and helping to create a social service that is modern, accessible, and characterized by high quality.
In 2024, we have introduced field social workers, which means we will regularly be out in the field in close collaboration with the police and our internal partners. We want to be where we are needed the most to detect and support children and youth who are not doing well early on. This year, we have also started a crime prevention initiative in the form of SSPF (collaboration between School, Social Services, Police, and Leisure) which will be an important part of our work to prevent youth from falling into crime, being recruited into criminal gangs, and/or starting substance abuse.
Looking ahead to 2025, we are focusing on working more preventively while also striving for evidence-based handling to support and help our children and youth in the most effective way. Our unit has already been working with the approach Signs of Safety, where participation and transparency are key principles.
Our unit is growing and currently consists of 25 employees divided into different groups based on handling within social child and youth care as well as foster care and family law. There are two team leaders and one unit manager on the team.
We actively work to create a good and sustainable work environment where we value employee development and competence. We work with a knowledge-based everyday life where you have the opportunity to actively engage with your colleagues' expertise through various learning groups within the unit.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a team leader, you will be responsible, together with another team leader and the manager, for leading and distributing work in two teams. Together, the teams consist of 23 employees working with children/youth in the areas of child and youth care, family law, and foster care. You are responsible for the teams' efficiency, productivity, and quality. The team leader acts as an operational and present leader, which means supporting and coaching the team in daily work, acting as an expert resource, and having knowledge of the breadth of the team's target group.
You are responsible for regular case reviews and guide the daily work of both caseworkers in social child and youth care, foster care, and family law. You support employees in following the laws and guidelines in place and maintaining focus on the organization's direction towards the set goals.
The operation is part of a larger context, and an important part of the work is to collaborate and cooperate with other internal and external actors, as well as to promote an open climate and a service-oriented approach.
We offer you:
- We offer you a varied, responsible, and stimulating job with opportunities for personal development. You will have a significant opportunity to, together with the management team you are part of, help develop the operation to meet citizens' needs.
- A workplace where you as an employee are important and where your work makes a difference.
- A structured support system and access to competent colleagues and management.
- We offer you an exciting assignment where you will work closely with operations in a leadership position. In our workplace, dialogue and team spirit are a given.
QUALIFICATIONS
You who are applying should have a degree in social work or meet the eligibility requirement with another relevant education of at least 180 higher education credits by having studied social law, administrative law, psychology, and social work. You have experience in case handling and leading within the exercise of authority in social child and youth care. You also have experience in leading teams in both family law and foster care, as well as leading based on the Signs of Safety approach, including mapping and safety planning. Furthermore, you have experience working in a politically governed organization.
We see that you have a good ability to use and learn digital systems and that you express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing. Training in Signs of Safety, both basic and advanced in safety planning, is a requirement.

You are motivated and effective even in adversity, and you enjoy creating and maintaining relationships in professional contexts. Your empathetic ability allows you to understand others' perspectives without taking over their feelings, and you easily adapt to changing conditions.
