Home Fixer in the Municipality

As a home fixer in the municipality, you are part of a smaller unit, preventive service, which belongs to the elderly and care administration. We are a wonderful team consisting of assistive technology technicians and home fixers. The group is based in facilities at the hospital in Mariestad, and the assignments involve supporting our senior municipal residents with various practical tasks in their own homes, whether in our municipal accommodations or in their regular residences.

Due to a staff member retiring, we now need to recruit their replacement.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The role of a home fixer means that you help the elderly in the municipality (69 years and older) perform simpler tasks in their homes that do not require skilled craftsmen. The purpose is primarily to increase safety and reduce the risk of falls and accidents.

Examples of services that the home fixer can perform:

• Safety rounds for increased fire safety and to prevent falls and accidents.
• Changing light bulbs and batteries for smoke detectors.
• Hanging pictures, hooks, roller blinds, or similar.
• Putting up and taking down curtains.
• Fetching or putting away items from attics, basements, garages, or high cabinets.
• Lubricating locks or doors.
• Securing cables and anti-slip mats or other safety-enhancing measures.
• Providing information about safety-enhancing equipment.
• Introduction to computers and mobile phones: learning how digital community services and apps work. This is to increase digital safety and prevent digital exclusion.

In the role of home fixer, you have a duty of confidentiality.

You will also work in a team with other professionals who work preventively with our elderly residents in the municipality to develop preventive work.

Working hours are Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 16:00.

QUALIFICATIONS

As a person, you should find it very easy to talk to elderly people and gain their trust. You have a twinkle in your eye and see each task as an important commitment to facilitate the resident's daily life.

Your positive attitude towards work and your good collaborative skills contribute to creating a wonderful and inspiring work environment both among your colleagues and for the municipal residents you assist.

You should be practically inclined and have an interest in technology and digital tools.

We would prefer if you have previous experience from a craft profession and have good knowledge of which industry professionals the home fixer group may need to collaborate with. It is also advantageous if you have worked with elderly people.

A driver's license is a prerequisite for the position.
